JOB PURPOSE
Every system e2Companies energizes starts as a design that has to perform on a live customer site and clear the interconnection requirements between drawing set and energized system. As a Power System Engineer within our Power Systems department, you will support the design, interconnection, and implementation of our proprietary generation system, contributing to single-line diagrams, construction documents, and commissioning under the direction of senior engineering. Reporting to the VP of Power Systems, you will support the department's project load while cross collaborating with R amp;D to test, refine, and prove out distributed generation, battery storage, and microgrid solutions before they reach the field. It is a role for an engineer who wants to build real depth on high-stakes systems while working alongside the people who set the technical bar.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Adaptability to prioritize and manage daily tasks in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Oversee utility interconnection applications from submission to project completion.
  • Design integrated solutions using battery storage and microgrid systems, including controls and electrical infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with the R amp;D team to test, document, and demonstrate solutions for clients, including hands-on equipment assembly and disassembly.
  • Coordinate construction requisitions, approvals, site visits, and final designs with internal and external engineering teams.
  • Research advanced electrical switchgear, automation, generator paralleling, and transfer solutions.
  • Help define project scope and deliverables aligned with company goals.
  • Plan and test prototypes to ensure they meet project objectives.
  • Develop and document detailed commissioning test plans and reports.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders to support project initiatives.
  • Support failure analysis, identify design improvements, and document reliability trends.
  • Create and review single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, site layouts, and construction documents for utility connections and permits.
  • Review shop drawings and designs for switchgear, transformers, reclosers, and other electrical equipment.
  • Quickly learn new software and technologies.
  • Follow instructions, work well in a team, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (MUST-HAVE)
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems or power electronics.
  • 5+ years of experience in power system design for product or project development.
  • Protective relay knowledge.
  • Proven proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Automation control and monitoring network design and configuration.
  • PLC configuration and programing, preference for Allen Bradley platform.
  • Comfort using common software applications for routine tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Clear and concise communication skills.
  • High integrity and ethical standards.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE-TO-HAVE)
  • 2+ years of field service experience (e.g., military, industrial, commercial, utility, or mission-critical environments).
  • Experience integrating battery storage or microgrid solutions into complex electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with distribution design software, National Electric Safety Code, and industry best practices.
  • Knowledge of International Building Code, International Fire Code, UL 891 and/or UL1558 or other relevant industry standards.
  • Understanding of medium-voltage distribution and transmission systems.
