As an Extrusion Blow Molding Process Technician, you'll play a critical role in producing high-quality laboratory products by setting up, troubleshooting, optimizing, and maintaining extrusion blow molding equipment. If you're an experienced plastics manufacturing professional who enjoys solving technical challenges, improving manufacturing processes, and working with advanced production equipment, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

As an Extrusion Blow Molding Process Technician, you'll be responsible for setting up, operating, optimizing, and maintaining extrusion blow molding equipment to ensure safe, efficient production of high-quality plastic products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and start extrusion blow molding (EBM) machines according to production schedules.
  • Perform mold changes, tooling changeovers, and equipment setup safely and efficiently.
  • Install and align molds, tooling, and machine components to ensure optimal production performance.
  • Adjust machine parameters including temperatures, blow pressure, cycle times, parison settings, and other processing parameters to optimize quality and productivity.
  • Monitor machine performance and make process adjustments to maintain consistent production and product quality.
  • Troubleshoot molding, tooling, material, and process issues to minimize downtime.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on extrusion blow molding equipment, molds, tooling, and associated production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and support secondary manufacturing equipment including leak testers, sealers, reamers, conveyors, and related downstream equipment.
  • Perform first-piece inspections and support ongoing product quality verification.
  • Maintain accurate setup, production, maintenance, and process documentation.
  • Work closely with production, maintenance, automation, engineering, and quality teams to improve equipment reliability and manufacturing performance.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that improve safety, quality, productivity, and operational excellence.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience setting up, operating, or troubleshooting extrusion blow molding (preferred) in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience performing mold changes, machine setups, and process adjustments.
  • Ability to optimize machine processing parameters to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of extrusion blow molding (EBM) process technician experience.
  • Candidates with injection molding setup or process technician experience who are interested in learning extrusion blow molding are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience processing engineering plastics and resins including HDPE, LDPE, PP, PMP, FEP, and PFA.
  • Experience with extrusion blow molding equipment such as Bekum, Davis-Standard, Kautex, Milacron, Graham, or Plastiblow.
  • Experience troubleshooting secondary manufacturing equipment or automated production systems.
  • Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems.
  • Experience with automated manufacturing equipment, robotics, or vision inspection systems is a plus.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing environment supporting the production of laboratory plastic products. The role requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout the shift, including handling molds and tooling with appropriate lifting assistance when needed.

Employees work around extrusion blow molding equipment and secondary manufacturing equipment in an active production environment with exposure to machine noise, elevated temperatures, and moving equipment. Overtime may be required based on business needs.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in New York is $22.81–$34.00.
