Innovative Electric is a locally owned and operated electrical company serving Charleston, SC, and surrounding areas. Innovative focuses primarily on residential electrical contracting for new construction projects.


Innovative Electric is the sister company to Innovative Sight & Sound, the premier Charleston home technology integrator offering custom home theaters, home automation systems, and security systems.


  • The Field Supervisor works with the Division Manager to ensure the successful operations and completion of projects in the pre-wire/rough-in phase.ย 
  • The Field Supervisor is the point person responsible in the field for the efficient management and completion of projects in the rough-in, trim-out, and final install phases. They are accountable for projects being completed on a budget (for time & materials) along with a standard of excellent communication, project documentation, and reduced errors/callbacks.ย 
  • Timelines and labor hours budgeted for job phases will be communicated to the Field Supervisor prior to their arrival on a project as well as site plans with a general overview of the project by the Division Manager and/or Project Manager.


The Field Supervisor maintains the following responsibilities:ย 

  • Maintain efficiencies of Innovative pre-wires through:
    • Oversight and monitoring of jobs with a goal to be completed on time or under time budgeted with reduced callbacks or errors.ย 
    • The leadership of technicians on projects they are responsible for through proper work strategy, best practices, time management, and coaching
    • Proper materials usage on projects - wire, wire paths, ties, etc.ย 
  • Quality Control of all areas within job phases:ย 
    • Quality control the work of other techs to make sure they meet Innovative standards. (link to a document of actual Innovative Standards)ย 
    • Monitor the status of active jobs that need returned trips and work with the project manager to schedule.
    • This may include jobs you are not currently working on.ย 
  • Communicationsย 
    • With the project manager on job status, progress, timeline, and any changes/needs on-site.
    • With builder of all needs and changes that happen on-site.
    • Any material needs on projects for any lead time discrepancies
  • Leading and Supervising Field Technicians
    • Communicate Shop Drawings / Plans to Field Technicians
    • Train new employees on the "hows and whys" of Prewires & Trims to the Innovative Standards (link to a document of actuarial Innovative Standards)ย 
    • Personnel feedback/ reviews of techs on pre-wires to Project Manager/ Division Manager for team development.
  • Document all on-site changes and send to the division manager (or project manager) to update drawings and proposal
    • Take photos and videos of prewiring for future work
  • Attending all required project meetings with builders/ contractorsย 
  • Report to the standards committee things that are working in the field and things that might need to change in terms of standards, processes, best practices, etc.ย 

Requirements

  • Direct experience working in the industry with proven experience as an electrician
  • Construction experience or general mechanical aptitude is helpful.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints/ floor plans and markups
  • Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools such as power drills, wire strippers, voltmeters, etc.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures legal regulations and guidelines
  • Experience on construction sites and knowledge of best practices on job sites
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • An eagerness to learn and work as part of a growing team is required.
