Fall 2026 Internship:

This position is located at our Frisco, TX site. Expected program dates are September 14 – December 4, 2026. Anticipated working hours will be 20-30 per week. Final hours and schedule will be determined between the intern and their manager.

Introduction:

Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is seeking an AI Engineering Intern to help design, build, test, and improve AI-powered solutions for partner enablement, enterprise knowledge access, and workflow automation.

The intern will contribute to a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) community platform, agentic AI solutions, intelligent knowledge search, and AI-assisted workflows. This role provides hands-on experience applying generative AI to real enterprise retail and partner-support use cases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop RAG-based solutions that provide accurate, context-aware answers from technical documentation and community knowledge.
  • Build and test AI agents that can answer questions, guide integrations, support troubleshooting, and automate multi-step workflows.
  • Help create an AI-powered partner community that promotes shared knowledge, reusable solutions, and reduced dependency on subject-matter experts.
  • Prepare and organize documents, technical content, and knowledge sources for AI retrieval.
  • Develop document ingestion, chunking, metadata, embedding, indexing, and retrieval processes.
  • Integrate large language models with enterprise systems, APIs, tools, and data sources.
  • Develop reusable prompts, agent instructions, tools, and workflow components.
  • Support Slack-based AI workflows and collaborative knowledge-sharing experiences.
  • Create evaluation methods to measure answer accuracy, relevance, completeness, groundedness, and response quality.
  • Identify hallucinations, false positives, retrieval gaps, and other AI quality issues.
  • Implement guardrails, human-review controls, access permissions, and responsible AI practices.
  • Monitor agent performance, latency, reliability, token usage, and cost.
  • Support testing, troubleshooting, documentation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Collaborate with engineering, professional services, subject-matter experts, and partner teams to identify and implement high-value AI use cases.
Required Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Programming experience in Python, JavaScript, Java, or a similar language.
  • Understanding of APIs, databases, data structures, and software development fundamentals.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Interest in generative AI, large language models, RAG, and agentic systems.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Windsurf, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with enterprise AI platforms, including Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or comparable services.
  • Exposure to Model Context Protocol (MCP), tool calling, agent frameworks, and AI orchestration platforms.
  • Familiarity with RAG, vector databases, embeddings, semantic search, prompt engineering, and agentic workflows.
  • Familiarity with Slack-based AI workflows, enterprise knowledge management, and collaborative partner or developer communities.
  • Experience with Git, REST APIs, cloud platforms, Docker, or CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exposure to document processing, knowledge management, or enterprise search.
  • Understanding of AI evaluation, observability, security, privacy, and responsible AI practices.
  • Interest in retail technology, partner ecosystems, enterprise software, or technical enablement.
