The Manufacturing Automation Engineer will lead automation, controls, and electrical improvement initiatives while supporting the reliability and safety of manufacturing operations. This role combines hands-on troubleshooting, project execution, process safety involvement, and automation system optimization within a fast-paced production environment. Client Details My client is a global manufacturing organization and recognized leader in specialty industrial materials that serve a broad range of industrial and engineered product markets. Description The Automation Engineer will report into the Engineering Manager and be responsible for: Support the installation, integration, commissioning, and startup of new automation and process equipment. Troubleshoot electrical, controls, instrumentation, and automation issues affecting production performance. Lead and support safety initiatives focused on risk reduction and process improvement. Provide field support during startups, process upsets, and abnormal operating conditions. Modify and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems to support equipment upgrades and manufacturing improvements. Coordinate activities with contractors, equipment vendors, and internal stakeholders during capital projects. Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA/HAZOP) and implement automation and control safeguards. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability. Develop and maintain electrical drawings, schematics, loop diagrams, and related documentation. Lead small to medium-sized capital, reliability, and automation projects. Proven troubleshooting experience in active production environments. Familiarity with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) standards and requirements. Experience with Ignition, FactoryTalk, or similar industrial software platforms preferred. Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
