Job description

CTG is seeking to fill a Mainframe Automation/NetView Engineer position for our client.

Location:

Onsite 3 days per week in Chandler/Phoenix, AZ; Plano, TX; or Charlotte, NC. Candidates must currently live in or around one of these areas or be willing to relocate.

Duration:

6 months

Duties: NetView Administration & Support:
  • Administer and maintain IBM NetView for z/OS environments.
  • Configure and support NetView automation infrastructure, definitions, policies, and operational controls.
  • Monitor NetView performance, availability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Support highly available enterprise mainframe environments.
Automation Development:
  • Design and develop automation solutions using REXX, CLIST, and NetView Command Lists (CMDLISTs).
  • Develop automated recovery procedures and operational workflows.
  • Create reusable automation frameworks to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
Event & Message Automation:
  • Implement and maintain event-driven and message-based automation solutions.
  • Configure and maintain NetView Automation Tables (AUTOTBL).
  • Develop message-processing rules to identify, classify, and respond to system events.
  • Implement automated notification and escalation processes.
Monitoring & Incident Management:
  • Implement proactive monitoring and alerting solutions.
  • Support enterprise event correlation and alert management.
  • Participate in production support and operational incident resolution.
  • Perform root cause analysis for infrastructure and automation failures.
  • Develop automation to improve operational resiliency and minimize manual operator intervention.
Infrastructure Integration:
  • Integrate NetView automation with z/OS Communications Server, VTAM, TCP/IP, OMEGAMON, and enterprise monitoring platforms.
  • Support automation across Sysplex environments.
  • Collaborate with operations, network, security, and systems programming teams.

  • 7+ years of experience with the IBM z/OS operating system.
  • 5+ years of hands‑on IBM NetView administration and automation experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing automation using REXX, CLIST, and NetView automation.
  • Proven experience designing event-driven operational automation solutions.
  • Experience supporting highly available enterprise mainframe environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure incidents and implement long-term resiliency improvements.
  • Preferred experience with IBM System Automation for z/OS (SA z/OS).
  • Preferred experience supporting large-scale financial services or banking environments.
  • Knowledge of RACF and z/OS security controls preferred.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and ServiceNow preferred.
  • Experience supporting 24x7 enterprise production environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of CICS, DB2, IMS, MQ, and related z/OS subsystems preferred.
  • Work Authorization: US Citizens or Green Card candidates only.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent technical experience may be considered.
