Position Summary

Position is responsible for leading the design and implementation of automation systems for new and existing manufacturing processes.  The position will be charged with supporting North American manufacturing locations and will supervisor the US Automation team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the activities of the automation engineering team in Woburn
  • Coordinate automation efforts with other Chomerics sites across the globe.
  • Create and implement robust, scalable, and high-quality automation solutions for manufacturing environment 
  • Identify and specify required equipment and subsystems to improve on new and existing manufacturing process
  • Devise specification and in-depth documentation for their design of automation system and subsystems
  • Provide technical support to production and maintenance in trouble shooting and maintaining automated processes.
  • Create, Control and Modify programs for various control systems (examples include CNC, PLC/HMI, etc.)
  • Design, quote, and create equipment/fixtures to aid production processes (structure, process, wiring, sensors).
  • Modify current equipment/fixtures to update process requirements.
  • Assist with Kaizen activities and Engineering projects.
  • Evaluate part drawings and sketches to understand product design and specification in developing manufacturing equipment.
  • Provide training for all associates on new equipment operations
  • Utilize the plan, do, check, act cycle when installing & debugging new equipment.
  • Provide direct supervision and leadership to the automation engineering team.
  • Manage, develop, and support automation engineering talent to meet organizational objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field, such as Mechanical Engineering or Automation is required.
  • Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.
  • 4-6 + years' experience in a manufacturing setting required.
  • Hands-on management experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent project management and coordination skills
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Outstanding research and investigative skills
  • Excellent understanding of digital processing tools
  • Must demonstrate effective organizational and verbal/written English communication skills
  • Experience working with outside vendors and contracts
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Automation and design engineering experience preferred
  • PC Literate (MS Word, Excel, Project, AutoCAD, Inventor, other engineering design software)
  • Must be a US citizen or US Permanent resident

  • Pay Range:  106490 to 177635 annually
  • Participation in Annual Incentive Program
