We are currently hiring a Testing Automation Lead - Tosca, for our global IT consulting client in the Waterloo area, working for a major insurance client.

Rate Range: $50 - $55/hr C2C (40 hrs /week)

Duration: 6-12 months + potential extensions

Location: Hybrid (2 onsite/3 days from home) Waterloo ON, Canada

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Automation Lead to drive test automation initiatives and support continuous delivery practices. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in automation testing, framework development, release governance, and quality engineering, along with experience in insurance and Guidewire environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new automation tests and contribute to continuous delivery initiatives.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of existing system design, architecture, and business logic.
  • Collaborate with business and user teams to develop and document detailed test suites using a Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) model.
  • Provide software testing effort estimates for project planning and scheduling.
  • Analyze test execution results to ensure compliance with approved designs and documented requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance test automation scripts, frameworks, and tools.
  • Log, track, and report defects using established defect management processes.
  • Participate in requirements reviews, design reviews, release readiness reviews, and other quality assurance activities.
  • Coordinate and monitor software development and testing activities, including walkthroughs, technical reviews, testing, and issue resolution.
  • Gather and analyze testing metrics and recommend process improvements.
  • Support performance testing and monitoring initiatives.
  • Prioritize and delegate tasks and projects as needed.
  • Coordinate with business stakeholders and escalate risks and issues appropriately.
  • Provide technical governance for bi-weekly release automation PODs.
  • Ensure coding standards are followed and automation frameworks are optimized.
  • Identify and communicate automation risks and challenges impacting release cycles.
  • Assess automation feasibility, ROI, and develop automation solutions and proof of concepts (POCs).
  • Address technical automation challenges and mentor team members in developing effective solutions.

Required Skills

  • Strong expertise in TOSCA Automation.
  • Hands-on experience with Playwright.
  • Extensive experience in software testing and test automation.
  • Experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks and testing harnesses.
  • Hands-on experience with automation and testing tools such as:

  • Postman
  • JMeter
  • Strong understanding of requirements analysis and verification.
  • Knowledge of cloud and enterprise application testing methodologies.
  • Experience with release automation governance and best practices.
