Your Job
The Sr. Automation Engineer is responsible for creating reusable automation capabilities, enabling platform engineering, and driving operational efficiency across IT Employee Services. This role creates business value through automation by reducing manual effort, improving reliability, accelerating delivery and leveraging AI.
This role partners closely with product, engineering, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to translate business needs into practical platform and automation capabilities. The Sr. Automation Engineer is expected to drive modernization, establish repeatable engineering patterns, evaluate tooling and design choices, and mentor technical contributors through coaching and demonstrating.

Location: This role can be located in Wichita, KS / Plano, TX / Atlanta, GA and requires an in-office presence with flexibility.

What You Will Do
  • Define and maintain the target-state DevOps and automation architecture, including CI/CD patterns, infrastructure as code standards, environment strategies, and reusable platform capabilities.
  • Design, build, and maintain automations that eliminate manual work across Collaboration Technology and Endpoint teams.
  • Leverage AI, Copilot, intelligent agents, APIs, and event-driven architectures to create self-service capabilities, automate business processes, improve decision-making, and advance automation-first ways of working
  • Partner with engineering, infrastructure, security, and product stakeholders to prioritize modernization opportunities and align technical solutions to business outcomes.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship by guiding design decisions, reviewing patterns and implementations, and coaching teams on DevOps, automation, and engineering best practices.
  • Analyze operational data, incidents, service requests, and platform telemetry to identify automation opportunities, reduce recurring support demand, improve service reliability, and drive continuous operational excellence.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Demonstrated experience designing, building, and supporting automation, DevOps, cloud, or platform engineering solutions in complex enterprise environments.
  • Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, APIs, workflow orchestration, and other automation technologies, with a focus on reducing manual effort and improving efficiency.
  • Experience developing and supporting CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and modern deployment practices using Terraform, Git, GitLab, Azure DevOps, GitHub, or similar tools.
  • Proven ability to analyze operational processes, service demand, telemetry, and support trends to identify opportunities for automation, reliability improvements, self-service, and ticket reduction.
  • Curiosity for emerging technologies such as AI, Copilot, intelligent agents, and event-driven automation, with a passion for applying innovative solutions to business and operational challenges.
  • Ability to partner across technical and business teams, mentor others, challenge the status quo, and drive continuous improvement through an automation-first mindset.

What Will Put You Ahead
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with enterprise automation tooling, cloud platforms, observability solutions, and infrastructure orchestration frameworks.
  • Background in DevOps architecture, platform engineering, site reliability engineering, or large-scale operational transformation initiatives.
  • Relevant certifications or advanced experience in cloud architecture, Kubernetes, automation, or secure software delivery practices.
