LEVEL 2 GENERATOR TECHNICIAN
Diversified Power Systems, Inc. has been a family owned and operator emergency standby generator maintenance company since 1997. We strive to meet and exceed customer expectations in all aspects of their generator maintenance and needs. We are currently looking to add a Level 2 Generator Field Service Technician.

As a Generator Field Service Technician, you will serve as a key contributor towards the service, repair, and maintenance of all makes/models of commercial and industrial generators for our customers. You will enjoy independence, career stability, and meaningful work.
A successful Generator Field Service Technician will perform at a journey-level mechanic level to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair emergency standby power and automatic transfer switch equipment. Perform related duties as required or assigned.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance on Generator Units
  • Repair and Service all Makes and Models of Generator Sets
  • Inspect, Repair, Service and Start-Up Load Bank Test Requirements on Equipment
  • Troubleshoot Equipment and Generator Components including Automatic Transfer Switches, Alternators, Wiring Harnesses, Safety Devices, and Battery Systems
  • Apply proper Engine Technical Skills in Inspection, Failure Analysis, Assembly, Diagnosis, and Operating Performance Tests
  • Identify the Problem and Cause of Failure through Logical Troubleshooting Steps, Determine Corrective Action through Inspection
  • Repair and Troubleshoot Engines such as Cummins, Detroit Diesel, John Deere, MTU and Volvo
  • Troubleshoot switchgear and automatic transfer switches
  • Provide 7x24 "on call" services as required
  • Maintain company issued equipment, tools, and instruments
  • Deliver exceptional customer service
  • Insure that work is performed to company standards
  • Provide technical support to customers upon request
  • Cross train in other areas as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with diesel and/or natural gas engines, generators, and automatic transfer switches
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have industry training certification in multiple makes/models
  • Must have a valid driver license
  • Must pass a physical and drug screening
  • Must have own tools
Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of OEM equipment and proficient in troubleshooting
  • Advanced mechanical principles and mathematics
  • Blueprint, Schematic, and Manual reading and comprehension
  • Must be proficient in electrical diagnostics
  • Must be proficient in computer skills (basic operation, iPhone, and tablet)
  • Understanding of electronic controls such as PLC’s, Murphy panels, Altronic, and ESM
  • Must be proficient using precision measuring tools
Physical Requirements:
  • Lift 50lbs
  • Lift/push/pull/roll (using carts and lifting aids)
  • Climb in/out of service vehicle
  • Drive service vehicle with trailer attached (may be required to attach and detach trailer to hitch, including hook-up of quick connect for backup/brake lights)
  • Twist 180 degrees
  • Bend to waist level
  • Reach above head
  • Kneel frequently
  • Climb ladders or stairs
  • Walk on uneven ground
  • Tolerate local area outdoor temperatures ranging from -20 degrees F to 115 degrees F and work primarily outdoors
