Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers is looking for Fire Sprinkler Fitters and Apprentices in our Tampa branch to work in the surrounding areas. Apprentices support the Commercial Foreman with daily tasks on the job site. They report to the Commercial Superintendent/Manager and work under the direction and supervision of the Commercial Foreman
This is a fast paced position requiring the ability to climb ladders frequently, use industry tools, work overhead frequently, lift up to 60 pounds, reach into the air, push, pull, bend, climb, and walk regularly.
Day to Day:
  • Install Fire Sprinkler systems accurately, on schedule, and within budget.
  • You will work with the Foreman on the job site to follow procedures, blueprints, and instructions to assemble and install pipes, tubes, and fittings. This includes connecting fire pump valves and pipes using threaded, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints and hand tools.
  • Assist with and secure pipes to structure with brackets, clamps and hangers using hand and power tools.
  • Run lines and sprinkler heads straight and in accordance with plans, adjust hangers, etc.
  • Very importantly, you will ensure systems are glued together properly and follow procedures to test the system for leaks.
  • Attend monthly safety meetings at the local branch.
  • Working outside on job sites for long hours in all seasons including summer months.
  • Physical requirements include standing, sitting, bending, lifting, and climbing. Lifting will include up to 60 pounds

What are the Qualifications for this position?
  • Construction experience preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools
  • Travel within the local community is required with reliable transportation.
  • Must possess the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to wear proper protective equipment as required on all job sites.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and pre-employment background check screening including 10 years of employment verification is required to be hired at Wayne Automatic.
