Job description

Job Summary:

The Detailer cleans and prepares vehicles for auction and sale, handling both interior and exterior detailing. They help maintain vehicle appearance and value through thorough and efficient work in a fast-paced environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Clean and detail vehicle interiors by vacuuming, wiping surfaces, and treating upholstery including leather, vinyl, and fabric.
  • Wash and prepare vehicle exteriors using power washing equipment, hand tools, and buffers.
  • Apply waxes, polishes, and specialized cleaners to protect and enhance vehicle finishes.
  • Steam clean engines and compartments using appropriate tools and safety precautions.
  • Remove stickers, decals, and residue from windows and body surfaces.
  • Treat surfaces with protective chemicals such as fabric guards and leather conditioners.
  • Ensure all vehicles are auction-ready by clearing personal items, performing final inspections, and addressing detailing needs.
  • Adhere to all company safety protocols and the Greater Rockford Auto Auction written safety program.
  • Support auction operations by preparing vehicles on sale days.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of vehicle cleaning techniques, tools, and materials.
  • Ability to operate detailing equipment, including buffers, steam cleaners, and pressure washers.

Education and Experience:

Insurance
Eligible on 1st of the following month following 60 days of continuous employment, employees can choose health, dental, and vision plans through United Health Care networks, with PPO or High Deductible options and an HSA.

Retirement
After six months, employees can contribute to a 401(k) with traditional or Roth options. GRAA matches 100% of contributions up to 3% and 50% for the next 2%.
