Job description

Description:

The Consumer Loan Specialist coordinates consumer and home equity loan closings, manages collateral and title perfection, and ensures loan documentation meets quality, compliance, and regulatory standards on behalf of the Contact Center Lending team. This role serves as a Notary Public for closings and works closely with members, dealerships, vendors, and internal teams throughout the loan lifecycle to deliver an efficient, accurate closing experience.

  • Coordinate consumer and home equity loan closings on behalf of Contact Center Lending staff.
  • Prepare and review loan documentation for accuracy and completeness prior to closing.
  • Communicate with members throughout the closing process, following up to obtain any outstanding documentation.
  • Conduct loan closings efficiently, ensuring all conditions of approval have been satisfied.
  • Serve as a Notary Public to support loan closings.
  • Manage Records of Lien (ROLs) and collateral perfection activities for Kalsee auto, recreational vehicle, and secondary mortgage loans.
  • Maintain electronic vehicle titles and monitor title status until Kalsee’s lien is perfected.
  • Follow up with dealerships, members, vendors, and state agencies to resolve outstanding title issues.
  • Process lien releases and maintain accurate, up-to-date collateral records.
  • Record secondary mortgages with the appropriate Register of Deeds and monitor recordings through to completion.
  • Upload and maintain complete electronic loan files for Contact Center Lending.
  • Upload and index all indirect lending documentation.
  • Audit loan files to confirm documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with internal policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and resolve documentation deficiencies prior to final file completion.
  • Maintain well-organized electronic records to support audits and examinations.
  • Process approved home equity loans on behalf of Contact Center lenders.
  • Coordinate title work, insurance verification, payoffs, and other closing requirements.
  • Complete HMDA data collection and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare post-closing documentation and ensure all required recording and follow-up activities are completed.
  • Coordinate drive-by property inspections or appraisal support as needed.
  • Review all activities for compliance with established policies, procedures, and regulations. Regulations include but are not limited to: Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering/Office of Foreign Assets Control regulations.
  • Participate in annual training as required by the BSA/OFAC Compliance Officer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • 1-3 years of consumer lending, loan closing, or loan documentation experience preferred
  • Notary Public certification required, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Working knowledge of vehicle title, lien perfection, and mortgage recording processes
  • Familiarity with HMDA and other consumer lending compliance requirements
  • High degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent member service and communication skills
