Responsibilities for Vehicle Inspector/Condition Report Writer:

  • Review vehicle inspection data and photographs to prepare detailed condition reports.
  • Identify damage, wear, and discrepancies using established guidelines and industry standards.
  • Ensure reports meet internal quality standards and client requirements.
  • Collaborate with field staff and inspection teams to clarify findings as needed.
  • Submit accurate, professional reports in a timely manner to support vehicle sales, leasing, and valuation processes.
  • Complete 20 to 30 condition reports per day.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Work Hours for Vehicle Inspector/Condition Report Writer:

  • Monday & Tuesday 7:30AM - 4:00PM
  • Wednesday 7:30AM - 5:00PM
  • Thursday 7:30AM - 5:00PM OR 6:00PM (Alternate Thursday end times due to post sales inspections)
  • Friday 7:30AM - 2:00PM
  • Alternate months working Saturdays with a Monday off
  • Some overtime available paid at time and a half

Requirements

 Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Strong written communication skills, including grammar, clarity, and attention to detail.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to accurately interpret inspection data, photographs, and vehicle condition checklists.
  • Comfortable working with reporting software, digital platforms, and inspection systems.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality and accuracy.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Education and Experience:

  • Previous experience writing vehicle condition reports preferred; automotive industry experience strongly preferred.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license for the duration of employment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
  • Work is  performed in an auction environment and may involve exposure to temperature changes, all types of weather conditions, and outdoor settings.
