Job description

Subaru of Portland, a dealership part of the O’Brien Auto Group is looking for an experienced Body Shop Estimator. Subaru of Portland prides itself as one of the largest Subaru retailers in the country. Our body shop has great deal of repeat and referral business because of our great reputation and because our employees provide a high level of customer service and professionalism.

Our Body Shop has an immediate opening for an experienced Auto Body Shop Estimator. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of an established company in collision repair and take your career to the next level. We're looking for someone who can work well with customers and Insurance Companies, accurately assess damaged vehicles, and communicate well with our Body Shop Technicians and Painters.

**The schedule is a 5-day work week Monday – Friday 8:00-5:00**

This position has a base salary of $2,500 plus 2.0% of the Body Shop gross profit.

All employees subject to eligibility requirements, we offer the following benefits:

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Assess the extent of auto body damage through inspections
  • Estimate repairs though CCC estimating system
  • Collect insurance estimates and resolve any differences with technician. customer and the insurance company
  • Establish good customer relations providing timely updates, relevant customer information and handling customer inquiries
  • Obtain relevant signature and authorizations, review vehicle and final inspection for quality check process
  • Excellent communication (phone/written/oral) customer service skills
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Practice and promote teamwork continuously.
  • Perform administrative tasks including those relating to the claims process
  • Completing all parts orders, aftermarket, factory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Regular attendance is essential.
  • Work in cooperative, positive & professional manner with all personnel in the company.
  • Treat members of the public and customers in a courteous and non-discriminatory manner.  Maintain professional demeanor while at work.
  • Must conform to the company policy regarding non-discrimination and harassment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Previous Body Shop Estimator experience is required
  • Basic computer skills
  • Familiarity and use of CCC1 body shop estimating software
  • Organizational skills
  • Problem-solving and communication skills

  • Must dress in a neat and business-like manner and adhere to the company dress code

  • Ability to adapt to change

Equipment/Machines/Tools Typically Used: Pressure washers, steam cleaning equipment, water hoses and buckets, sponges, polishers, cloth rags, hand-held squeeze bottles, and mechanics hand tools. Rubber gloves to be worn as required.

Chemicals: Numerous chemicals are used/handled on a frequent basis. Employee will be trained by their supervisor on the safe handling/use of these substances. Employee will always follow all safety directives.

Physical Demands: Intermittent standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Lifting of 50lbs or less on an occasional basis and carrying of 25lbs or less on a frequent basis. Frequent pushing and pulling, twisting, and turning of trunk, reaching, and handling of objects, occasional climbing, balancing, and crawling.

Candidates for this position must possess a valid Driver’s License and maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with company policy. Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of a comprehensive background screening and motor vehicle record review.
