Job description

Salary Range:  $42,553-$68,510

Purpose of Classification:

The purpose of this classification is to repair body damage to County-owned vehicles and equipment.  

This classification is safety sensitive, subject to random drug testing in accordance with the County's Drug & Alcohol Policy.

Essential Functions: 

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Assesses vehicle and equipment damage; estimates time and material needed to complete repairs; updates and maintains related work orders; and coordinates with supervisor to order parts and supplies.

Repairs structural and mechanical damages; straightens, repairs and aligns metal frames, unibody, and body pillars; performs glasswork; fills dents; sands and grinds surfaces; applies primer, paint, and detail features; buffs surfaces; upholstery and updates and maintains related work orders.

Repairs electrical, suspension, air conditioner, and exhaust systems as needed; performs electrical repairs on damaged and broken wires, bulbs, lights, and sockets; and diagnoses and repairs air conditioner problems.

Operates or uses various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies to complete work assignments; and operates and maintains hydraulic benders, grinders, and spray painters, and other power or motorized equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required, with vocational or technical training in automotive body repair or a related field; two years of experience in auto body repair or automotive maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Specific License or Certification Required:  Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
