Grants Pass Chevy, Honda and Nissan is looking for a  Auto Body Prepper is responsible for preparing repaired vehicles for the final painting process. This role ensures all surfaces are smooth, clean, and properly masked to guarantee a flawless paint application. This is a full time position with benefits We are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm. This will be a hourly paid position at $19.00 per hour. We are willing to train for the right person. Must have automotive back ground in either mechanical or auto-body. We will offer on site and off site training from the manufactures. You will have the opportunity to grow in this position, we are looking for someone that wants to grow into a auto body technician. 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Sanding & Smoothing: Sand repaired body panels using power sanders and hand-sanding blocks.
  • Masking & Taping: Cover windows, trim, and undamaged panels with tape and paper to protect them from overspray.
  • Surface Cleaning: Clean vehicle surfaces with chemical solvents to remove dirt, grease, and wax.
  • Primer Application: Apply primer, surfacer, and sealer to prepared areas using spray guns.
  • Defect Inspection: Inspect surfaces for imperfections, scratches, or dents before sending the vehicle to the paint booth.
  • Shop Maintenance: Clean and maintain spray guns, sanding equipment, and the general work area.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience: 1–2 years of experience in an auto body shop or collision repair center preferred.
  • Technical Skill: Proficiency with pneumatic sanders, blocks, masking tools, and spray equipment.
  • Detail Oriented: Strong visual inspection skills to detect minor surface flaws.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds for extended periods.
  • Safety Mindset: Knowledge of safety protocols regarding hazardous chemicals, dust, and protective gear (respirators).

Work Environment
  • Exposure to dust, paint fumes, and loud noises.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment at all times.
