We're looking for a Desense Engineer to join the Spectacles team!

What you'll do:

  • Develop and implement innovative RF desense solutions (hardware and software) to ensure robust system performance

  • Collaborate with RF, antenna, electrical, mechanical, and software teams to integrate RF systems into Spectacles products and ensure compliance with performance standards

  • Conduct rigorous lab and OTA testing of RF systems, perform sensitivity and coexistence testing (LTE, 5G, WiFi, GNSS, Bluetooth, etc.), and validate performance against industry standards

  • Characterize desense caused by internal aggressors (CPU, memory, power converters, displays, etc.) and external interferers. Trace root causes using probes, shielding tests, grounding checks, and layout reviews

  • Identify system performance bottlenecks (impacts) due to antenna, RF board, assembly dependencies, multi-radio operation, etc.

  • Develop and execute coexistence test plans and generate validation reports

  • Author clear and comprehensive documentation

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong RF, antenna, EMI, EMC, and coexistence engineering fundamentals

  • Knowledge of wireless communication standards including WiFi, BT, BLE, GPS, 4G LTE, 5G, etc

  • Knowledge of board level design strategies for desense and EMI minimization, signal integrity, and isolation.

  • Experience working with systems that include high-speed digital interfaces such as MIPI CSI / DSI, PCIe, SDIO / eMMC, UFS, etc

  • Proven ability to use common RF and electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and power supplies

  • Understanding of RF PCB design, associated constraints, impedance matching, and filter tuning

  • Proficiency with RF simulation/design tools (e.g., CST Microwave Studio, Keysight ADS, XFdtd, etc.)

  • Excellent process development and documentation skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field such as electrical engineering, computer science, or physics or equivalent years of experience

  • Ability to travel including domestic and international (up to 15%)

  • 10+ years of experience in electrical, RF, and/or computer engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD in Wireless, Electromagnetics, Electrical engineering or related field

  • Knowledge of ESD principles for consumer electronics

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $229,000-$343,000 annually.


Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $218,000-$326,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $195,000-$292,000 annually.This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
