Job description

A new paradigm of computing

Magic Leap is a pioneer in Augmented Reality (AR) optics, display systems, platforms, devices services, prototyping and manufacturing capabilities. We are known for our unmatched optics stack and have developed ultra-lightweight waveguides and display systems that advance what is possible in AR. With more than a decade of experience in AR innovation, we have made groundbreaking advancements in text legibility, color fidelity and rich digital content visuals while continually expanding the field of view to create engaging, immersive AR experiences.

Magic Leap could be your place if you want to be part of a united team where everyone is empowered and trusted to make an impact. At Magic Leap, you can explore innovative solutions and use your talents to solve real-world problems. Working alongside industry experts, you can grow your skills while helping make our technology available to millions of people as a partner in the AR ecosystem.  We know that successful change and progress accelerates diverse perspectives. As we shape our future, everyone's voice matters. Together, we can reimagine the world of work and, with our bold partners, make the impossible possible.

The opportunity

The Senior Manager of Process Engineering will be a critical leader responsible for developing and scaling robust manufacturing processes that enable consistent product performance, yield, and reliability. This role demands a strategic leader with deep experience in translating complex technologies into stable, high-performing production processes who can effectively bridge the gap between development and high-volume manufacturing. This Senior Manager of Process Engineering will build and lead a high-performing team of process engineers, driving process capability, reducing variation, and advancing continuous improvement across critical manufacturing workflows.  The leader will partner closely with Equipment Engineering, Product Development, Quality, and Operations teams to ensure processes are manufacturable, scalable, and aligned with product performance requirements.  Success in this role requires strong technical depth, structured problem-solving skills, and the ability to influence across organizational boundaries to accelerate learning cycles and improve manufacturing readiness.

What you'll do

  • Build and lead a high-performing process engineering team supporting critical manufacturing processes and product performance requirements.
  • Serve as the primary technical and operational point of contact for process-related readiness, capability, and performance across development and manufacturing environments.
  • Establish clear, quantifiable manufacturing readiness expectations for process capability, yield performance, variation reduction, and process stability
  • Provide direct management and strategic guidance to the core team of process engineers, enabling strong technical execution and talent development.
  • Ensure alignment across Product Development, Equipment Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to drive design-for-manufacturability and scalable process integration.
  • Develop and execute process strategies that enable predictable yield, throughput, and product performance, including CTF / CTQ, consistency.
  • Define and drive process capability metrics, including Cp, Cpk, defectivity, and process variation improvement.
  • Lead structured root cause investigations to resolve yield excursions, reliability risks, and process performance gaps.
  • Establish robust process control strategies, including SPC, DOE, DFSS, FMEA, and monitoring frameworks that enable rapid learning cycles.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve process capability, cycle time, cost efficiency, and manufacturability.

What you'll bring

  • 10+ years of experience in process engineering within advanced technology manufacturing environments such as semiconductor, photonics, optics, display, and related industries
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing, characterizing, and optimizing complex manufacturing processes, including variation reduction, yield improvement, and process capability enhancement.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead high-performing technical teams of process engineers, fostering strong execution, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills, capable of setting expectations with both internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • BS/MS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or equivalent).

It's exciting if you also have

  • Strong experience applying data-driven methodologies, including DOE, DFSS, SPC, FMEA, and statistical analysis to improve process stability and performance
  • Demonstrated success driving root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions to resolve yield excursions and reliability risks
  • Ability to translate complex technical challenges into actionable plans that improve manufacturability, cycle time, and cost efficiency
