Position Overview Under direct supervision, responsible for ensuring accurate material accounting, tracking, control, and reporting of accountable nuclear materials within an organization. This role is critical for compliance with national and international regulations designed to prevent loss, theft, or diversion and ensure the safe handling of accountable nuclear material.

This role requires a strong understanding of material accounting principles, meticulous attention to detail, and a background in or specialized training for nuclear material safeguards and regulations. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities to support the organization in one or more of the following functional areas: Functional: Maintaining precise records of nuclear material inventories dedicated material accounting databases and related technical systems, including quantities, locations, and declarations. This involves reconciling physical inventories with book records to ensure material balance integrity.

Preparing and submitting required reports to regulatory bodies on all movements, receipts, shipments, and changes in the form or content of nuclear materials. Ensuring all MC&A activities adhere to established procedures, facility licenses, and national and international safeguards agreements. This includes understanding and interpreting relevant regulations.

Supporting and participating in internal and external audits and inspections by regulatory agencies, providing requested documentation and explanations. Utilizing and maintaining specialized software and systems for tracking nuclear materials, ensuring data integrity and security. Assisting in the development and refinement of MC&A procedures and policies to enhance effectiveness and compliance.

Identifies and reports discrepancies in material balances or inventory records, assists with investigation, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
