Audio Visual Installation information

What is an audio visual installation?

Audio Visual (AV) Installers are professionals who set up, configure, and maintain audio and video equipment in various settings such as offices, schools, conference centers, and entertainment venues. Their work includes installing projectors, sound systems, video conferencing tools, screens, and control panels, ensuring all components are integrated and functioning properly. AV Installers may also provide user training, perform troubleshooting, and support ongoing maintenance to ensure optimal performance of the equipment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an audio visual installation technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Audio Visual Installation Technician, you need strong knowledge of AV systems, wiring, and troubleshooting, often supported by a technical diploma or relevant certifications. Familiarity with tools like signal testers, control systems (such as Crestron or AMX), and certifications like CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) are highly valued. Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective communication with clients and team members are standout soft skills. These competencies ensure seamless installations, minimize downtime, and guarantee client satisfaction in diverse environments.

What are some common challenges faced during audio visual installation projects, and how can they be addressed?

Audio visual installation professionals often encounter challenges such as unexpected site conditions, compatibility issues between equipment, and tight project timelines. To address these, clear communication with clients and other contractors is essential, as is thorough pre-installation site assessment and planning. Staying updated on the latest AV technologies and maintaining flexibility in troubleshooting can help ensure successful project completion. Collaboration with IT and facility teams is also key to resolving technical or logistical issues efficiently.

Job description

CTI has been a leading audiovisual provider since we began in 1988, and from the beginning our mission has been simple: to provide a fantastic customer experience.
At CTI, our biggest asset is our people, and we know that sometimes the most awesome employees donโ€™t fit the typical mold. • Other tasks as assigned

Will you fit in?

  • Our employees fearlessly embrace the company culture, and applicants who merely want to punch in their timecards every day are not what we are looking for.

  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills and can be the face of our company to our clients.

Does experience count?

  • Education: Associates degree is preferred, but not required. We take into account your experience/skill level and what you bring to the table as an individual.
  • Customer Service Experience: A must! As you can see our customers are #1 and we need someone who can take care of them, and treat them as such.
  • Attitude and Aptitude: Are key! We need someone who is eager to learn and comes to work ready to tackle any situation.

Whatโ€™s in it for you?
At CTI, we know our companyโ€™s success is directly correlated to the success of our employees. So itโ€™s fitting that we thrive on and encourage employee growth, both professionally and personally.

Our competitive compensation package includes:

  • Base salary $70k-$130k+/yr (DOE).
  • Employer-matched medical and dental insurance (available after 60 days of employment).

  • A graduated PTO program, all major holidays off, and three โ€œfloatingโ€ holidays are available upon your first day of employment.
  • Special gifts for significant life events, such as marriage, childbirth, and house buying.
  • Cell phone reimbursement plan.
  • Long- and Short-Term Disability 100% paid by CTI.
