What is an audio visual engineer?

Audio Visual Engineers are professionals who design, install, and maintain audio and video systems for various settings such as offices, conference rooms, event spaces, and virtual environments. In a remote role, they often support clients or teams with troubleshooting, configuring AV equipment, and ensuring smooth operation during virtual meetings or live streams. Their work combines technical expertise in electronics and IT with problem-solving skills to deliver high-quality audiovisual experiences.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an audio visual engineer remote?

To thrive as an Audio Visual Engineer (Remote), you need expertise in AV systems integration, troubleshooting, and a background in electronics or a related field, often supported by certifications like CTS. Senior Electrical Estimator - Airports & Infrastructure

Connico

Cincinnati, OH • Remote

$140K/yr

Full-time

Job description

Senior Electrical Estimator
Company Overview
Would you enjoy being involved in executing large-scale, complex infrastructure projects?
Connico is a national construction consultancy known for its experienced team and commitment to exceptional client service. With deep experience in aviation and complex infrastructure, we are continuing to expand our work across energy, federal, and defense markets.
Our work is technical, but how we do the work matters just as much as the quality of what we deliver. Our core values of Respect, Integrity, Innovation, Resiliency, Inclusivity, and Thoughtfulness guide how we work with our clients and with one another.
The Role
As a Senior Electrical Estimator, you will lead complex electrical cost estimating efforts from early conceptual planning through final construction documents. You will use your technical experience and judgment to develop accurate estimates, identify scope gaps and risks, reconcile costs, and help clients make informed decisions, even when project information is limited or evolving.
This is a hands-on senior technical role. You will independently develop and review estimates while also helping strengthen Connico's electrical estimating practice through mentoring, quality control, knowledge sharing, and the development of repeatable estimating practices.
You will work across disciplines and directly with clients, project teams, contractors, designers, and other estimators on complex infrastructure projects.
What You'll Do

  • Lead and independently develop electrical cost estimates across all design stages, from conceptual and Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates through final construction documents, including Level 1–5 estimates for projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Develop detailed material and labor estimates for electrical systems including Medium Voltage, Low Voltage, Communications, Audio-Visual, Security, Video Surveillance, and Fire Alarm systems. Research and develop unit pricing, cost assemblies, and supporting assumptions using current market information and sound estimating judgment.
  • Think beyond the plans and specifications. Identify missing information, scope gaps, inconsistencies, interdisciplinary conflicts, and potential cost risks. Develop well-supported assumptions and solutions when complete project information is not available.
  • Lead estimate reconciliations, technical and quality-control reviews, contractor bid analyses, value engineering assessments, life-cycle and benefit-cost analyses, and coordination across disciplines to produce comprehensive and defensible estimates.
  • Manage multiple complex estimating assignments and priorities while maintaining accuracy, meeting deadlines, and helping project teams deliver high-quality work that reflects Connico's standards and core values.
  • Mentor and train developing estimators in conceptual estimating, quantity takeoffs, cost buildups, reconciliations, technical reviews, interdisciplinary plan analysis, reporting, and Connico estimating practices. Help create training resources and repeatable best practices that strengthen the broader team.
  • Take ownership of estimating data, cost assemblies, templates, and reporting practices by helping maintain accurate, current, consistent, and accessible information that supports repeatable results.
  • Build strong client relationships and serve as a trusted technical advisor through clear communication, sound judgment, reliability, and expert guidance. Participate in client meetings, project site visits, and industry events as needed.
What You'll Bring
  • 10+ years of full-time, hands-on electrical estimating experience.
  • A Journeyman Electrician License, Master Electrician License, Electrical Engineering degree, or equivalent combination of electrical knowledge and experience.
  • An industry-recognized professional certification, license, or advanced credential, such as CCP, CPE, PCSE, CEP, CCE, PE, or another relevant advanced credential.
  • Proven ability to independently develop high-quality electrical estimates across Levels 1–5 and all stages of design, including conceptual and ROM estimates developed with limited information.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex estimating assignments, integrating estimate elements across multiple disciplines, meeting deadlines, maintaining quality, and communicating professionally with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to interpret architectural, civil, electrical, and other engineering drawings and specifications across all levels of design.
  • Expertise with electrical estimating or takeoff software such as IntelliBid, Accubid, On-Screen Takeoff, MII, MCACES, or comparable systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Teams, Outlook, and Word.
Preferred Experience
  • Electrical estimating experience supporting aviation or airport projects is highly preferred.
  • Experience with other large-scale or complex project environments, including federal government, Department of Defense or military facilities, energy and utilities, transportation and infrastructure, industrial, mission-critical, or similar technically complex work, is valuable.

Work Location Options
Hybrid (T/W/TH in-office):

  • Hebron, KY (Cincinnati area)
  • Mt. Juliet, TN (Nashville area)
  • Denver, CO
  • Indianapolis, IN

Fully Remote:

  • Fully remote opportunity for the right candidate. Must reside full-time in the U.S.
  • Minimal travel, up to 10% (site visits, meetings, conferences)

Why Join Connico?
This is an opportunity to do more than produce estimates. You will help solve complex cost challenges, influence the quality of major infrastructure projects, strengthen estimating practices, and develop the next generation of Connico estimators.
As Connico continues to grow beyond its established aviation and infrastructure work into energy, federal, and defense markets, you will also have the opportunity to apply your expertise across an expanding range of complex projects.
We value people who take ownership, bring solutions, share their expertise, challenge thinking thoughtfully, and build trust with clients and teammates. At the Senior level, you will be expected not only to demonstrate technical excellence, but also to help strengthen the people and practice around you.
If you are an experienced electrical estimator who combines strong technical expertise with sound judgment, leadership, and a commitment to quality, we would like to hear from you!
