Job Description

Olsson's South Facility Engineering and Design Team is shaping the future of infrastructure across commercial, healthcare, education, and military environments. Our Vertical Telecom team is at the heart of this transformation, designing the communication systems that power world-class facilities.

We're looking for a Group Leader who's ready to lead with vision, mentor with purpose, and drive technical excellence. This is more than a management role, it's a chance to shape a growing team, influence high-impact projects, and build lasting client relationships. Olsson's Information and Communication Technology Team supports the firm in a wide range of project types in providing design services for telecom, security, audio/visual, and fire alarm systems.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Charge: Drive daily operations of the Vertical Telecom group, setting performance goals that align with team and firmwide objectives
  • Grow the Team: Contribute to the vision and strategy of growing the team. Supervise a dynamic and expanding group across multiple offices and states, fostering collaboration and technical growth.
  • Deliver Excellence: Oversee project delivery from kickoff to closeout—ensuring schedules, budgets, and technical execution meet our high standards.
  • Be the Client's Go-To: Build and nurture client relationships through proactive communication, strategic insight, and exceptional service.
  • Shape the Future: Support the strategic growth of the telecom practice through business development, client strategy, and proposal leadership.
  • Mentor and Inspire: Provide coaching, feedback, and professional development to team members, helping them thrive in their careers.
  • Balance the Load: Monitor team performance, utilization, and staffing needs to keep projects moving and people supported.
Qualifications

You bring to the team:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, sciences, construction, planning, landscape architecture, or a related field preferred. An associate degree with equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in telecom, low-voltage systems, or a related discipline.
  • At least 4 years of experience supervising technical personnel, with a proven track record of mentorship and team leadership.
  • Strong understanding of telecom design practices, building codes, and project delivery methods.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or RCDD certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in CAD/BIM software and telecom design tools.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and contribute to business development.
