Job description

General Summary of Duties

KAYU/KCYU/KFFX/NAYU/NFFX-TV is looking for a part-time Master Control Operator. This position is responsible for operating switchboards, commercial playback servers, and following daily station logs.

Description of Primary Duties

Operates audio/video switching consoles for all stations simultaneously

Monitors equipment to ensure quality of signal being delivered

Inputs and operates computer servers for commercial playback

Operates satellite receiving equipment

Maintains logs and paperwork, as required, and prepares daily variation reports

Operates transmitter per Federal Communication Commission regulations

Responsible for company security and safety procedures during business hours

Performs related duties as assigned


Working Conditions

Hours may vary and individual must be willing to work overnights, weekends, and holidays

Must have phone and be willing to work additional shifts on call as needed

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience in electronic communications, broadcasting, or multi-media computing preferred


Reporting Relationship

Reports to Lead Master Control Operator, Chief Engineer, and General Manager


Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Basic skills in operating audio/visual and other electronic equipment

Extensive computer experience

Effective oral and written communication skills

Excellent organizational skills

Ability to follow standard procedures during high intensity situations, work effectively under pressure without supervision, and maintain effective working relationships with staff


The base salary compensation range for this role is $16.50 to $17.50 per hour. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, vacation time, and floating holidays.
