Company Description is a premier mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and construction services engineering firm focused on the transportation, transit, and building sectors. Based in Chicago, our team of 40 professionals provides services across Illinois and Wisconsin. We are prequalified by the Illinois Department of Transportation for Special Services – Lighting (Typical), Special Services – Mechanical Engineering, and Special Services – Electrical Engineering. Our expertise includes specialized design services for Traction Power and Moveable Bridges. Noteworthy projects include the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Red Line Extension, CTA Red Purple Modernization, the IDOT Statewide EV Charging Stations Construction Monitoring, Cook County Administration Building, and the Illinois Tollway O’Hare and Hinsdale Oasis.
AAA is seeking a Director to lead our growing Electrical Engineering team. This role is responsible for managing project execution on time and on budget, technical quality, team development, assisting with proposals, perform technical field surveys if necessary, and client engagement for electrical systems in transit, roadway, and institutional facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering design, team leadership, and project management. Past working experience with CTA, Metra, IDOT, CDOT, or Illinois Tollway projects encouraged.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of electrical engineers and designers.
  • Oversee the design and development of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems for various facility types.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and regulation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical designs into broader facility engineering projects.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources while ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for clients, providing guidance and addressing concerns.
  • Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, client presentations, and strategic planning.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 15 years of experience in electrical engineering, including at least 4 years in a management position.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, AGi 32, Microstation).
  • Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and other relevant standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Certifications in LEED, Value Engineering, Energy Management or similar certifications encouraged.
