Job description

The RF Engineer is responsible for deployment, managing, maintaining, and optimizing the processes involved in the RF origination, RF signal distribution, Modulation and Demodulation, RF over Glass transport, and reception performance of Live RF content. This position will lead technical initiatives related to system upgrades, scalability, performance optimization, new RF standards implementation, and the integration of emerging technologies into the RF ecosystem.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the end-to-end RF distribution from multiple content sources such as satellite, fiber, IP streams, and OTT platforms.
  • Ensure RF signals are acquired at the highest possible quality, conduct regular quality checks and assessments on the incoming RF streams, implementing error correction mechanisms when necessary.
  • Manage RF systems for live content, ensuring local origination performance to headend systems.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot RF feeds, ensuring minimal downtime and rapid resolution of signal or quality issues.
  • Ensure the proper installation and maintenance of RF components for Satellite and OTA receivers, Antennas for Satellite and OTA, Optical Transmitters and EDFA, Splitters and Amplifiers, and other equipment used in RF ecosystem.
  • Implement signal analyzation techniques to ensure consistent RF quality and format across all streams.
  • Install and configure OTA receivers and antennas, Satellite Antennas, L-band Optical and RF systems, HFC Systems, IP to RF Modulation.
  • Implement RF solutions ensuring scalability, redundancy and high performance.
  • Execute implementation of new RF systems for Satellite IP or fiber acquisition
  • Monitor FR linear channels for Audio/Video quality. Analyze real-time and historic data from monitoring systems to proactively address issues.
  • Work closely with the network team to manage and optimize the Coax and Optical transport of RF signals over various Systems.
  • Troubleshoot network-related issues impacting RF transport, ensuring stable and efficient content delivery.
  • Implement and maintain security practices to ensure signal protection in the distribution equipment and systems.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in RF/HFC systems, Broadcast engineering, with a strong focus on satellite, IP, and fiber transport.
  • Background in RF headend operations and video distribution technologies.
  • Experience with C-Band, L-Band, Coax, Fiber Optic, and RF Active and Passive systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English.
  • Ability to work flexible days, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
