What is an audio recording studio?

An audio recording studio is a specialized facility equipped with professional gear and acoustically treated rooms to record, produce, and mix sound. These studios are used by musicians, voice actors, podcasters, and producers to capture high-quality audio for music, podcasts, commercials, and other media. Audio recording studios typically offer services like tracking, mixing, mastering, and sometimes even songwriting or production support, providing a controlled environment for achieving the best possible sound.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in an audio recording studio role?

To excel in an audio recording studio, you need a solid understanding of sound engineering principles, audio editing, and music production, often supported by formal training or a degree in audio engineering. Familiarity with digital audio workstations (DAWs) like Pro Tools or Logic Pro, as well as experience with microphones, mixers, and studio hardware, is essential. These skills ensure high-quality audio production and a productive, creative studio environment.

What are some common challenges faced when working in an audio recording studio, and how can they be addressed?

Position Overview

As a Studio Engineer, you will be responsible for recording, editing, and mixing audio across all stages of our artists' music production and promotional activities. You will ensure exceptional sound quality by operating and maintaining professional audio equipment while collaborating closely with producers, artists, and other stakeholders to understand and realize their creative vision. This role offers the opportunity to develop as a professional sound engineer by delivering high-quality audio productions that preserve the unique characteristics of each vocal and instrumental performance.

This is a full-time, hybrid role based in our Santa Monica office, with in-person collaboration 3 days per week and remote work 2 days per week. • Provide on-site technical support for concerts, fan meetings, and other live events, including domestic and international business travel as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in an entertainment recording studio or commercial recording studio environment.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Korean and English is required.
  • Proficiency in Pro Tools is required; experience with other Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in vocal recording, editing, and tuning across multiple songs
  • Degree or formal training in Audio Engineering, Sound Production, or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to understand and translate the creative intentions of producers and artists into high-quality audio productions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining accuracy throughout the production process.
  • High standards for audio quality and a strong sense of ownership in delivering polished final productions.
  • Passion for continuously learning and staying current with emerging recording technologies, audio engineering techniques, and industry trends.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Itโ€™s a bonus if you have

  • Proven experience running playback systems (DAWs) for live events, concerts, and performances.
  • Candidates with a proven track record of recording, editing, and tuning main vocals and BGV tracks for more than 100 songs are highly preferred.
  • Professional knowledge of Audio Engineering, Acoustic Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of professional audio hardware, including mixing consoles, signal processors, and outboard equipment.

Don't match every skill listed? Almost nobody does! Think you're a good fit anyway? Please let us know.
