Job description

vMix Host & Specialist

WAVY-TV is seeking an experienced vMix streaming specialist to handle hosting, producing, switching, editing, and uploading of video content, and becoming an in-house expert on CTV video distribution for our local media team. This person will provide content for our market, which includes Portsmouth/Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA.

Responsibilities:

- Provide "one man band" hosting, producing, switching, editing and uploading for daily and special project video content via vMix.

- Become an in-house expert for CTV video distribution, including live hosted video in both unedited and breaking news formats.

- Set up interviews, gather factual information, needed b-roll and visual elements and prepare show rundowns or scripts as needed.

- Develop vMix scene collections and work with graphics teams to help align production branding.

- Track show metrics to identify high value formats and opportunities for new programming.

- Build positive working relationships with stakeholders in our newsroom to build awareness of our resources.

- Comfortable juggling multiple tasks both live on-stream and behind the scenes to include troubleshooting challenges as they arise.

- Interest in/willingness to learn and understand the IT and engineering elements of a successful livestream setup.

- Desire to experiment and innovate in an evolving digital space while maintaining professionalism and journalistic principles.

- High level attention to detail required to ensure polished vMix-driven products.

- Basic understanding of camera settings, studio lighting, and audio processing.

Skill/Experience Requirements:

- 3-5 years of experience in video production with extensive on-camera experience and proven technical problem-solving skills.

- 2-3 years of experience working with vMix or similar streaming software.

- Self-starting demeanor with an ability to spot opportunities to capture audiences in a streaming format.

- Solid foundation in journalism ethics on issues such as copyright and attribution.

- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team format or as an individual contributor.

- The position is based in Portsmouth, VA and requires a physical presence to function in the role.

COMPENSATION RANGE:

Annual Salary $60,000 - $70,000 - commensurate with experience
