Audio Annotation information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Audio Annotator, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Audio Annotator, you need strong attention to detail, excellent listening skills, and familiarity with linguistic concepts, often supported by relevant coursework or experience in linguistics or audio processing. Proficiency in annotation tools such as ELAN, Audacity, or Praat, as well as experience with data labeling platforms, is typically required. Strong organizational skills, patience, and the ability to work independently make someone stand out in this role. These skills ensure accurate and consistent audio data labeling, which is essential for training reliable AI and speech recognition systems.

What are some common challenges faced by audio annotators, and how can they be managed effectively?

Audio annotators often encounter challenges such as distinguishing overlapping voices, dealing with low-quality recordings, and maintaining consistency in labeling. To manage these, it's important to use high-quality headphones, familiarize yourself with annotation guidelines, and communicate regularly with your team to resolve ambiguities. Many organizations also provide regular feedback sessions and quality checks to ensure accuracy and support continuous improvement.

What is audio annotation?

Audio annotation is the process of labeling or tagging audio data with relevant information, such as identifying sounds, speech, speakers, or background noises. This process helps train machine learning models to recognize and understand audio content. Audio annotation can involve tasks like transcribing speech, marking segments with specific sounds, or categorizing audio clips by genre or emotion. It is widely used in developing applications for speech recognition, virtual assistants, and audio analysis.

Job description

CTI has been a leading audio visual and technology integration provider for over 38 years. Since 1988, our mission has been simple: to provide a fantastic customer experience.

At CTI, our biggest asset is our people, and we know that sometimes the most awesome employees don’t fit the typical mold. If you are hardworking and friendly and know the importance of fantastic customer service, you could be a good fit at CTI. We have developed a collaborative and lively working environment, where the best and the brightest show up to work each day ready to have fun and employ their passion for and knowledge of technology in everything they do. This creative atmosphere helps us apply and share our skills with our clients, who seek quality, high-end audio-visual and Conference Solutions.

So, what are we looking for?

We’re looking for a Revit BIM Operator - AV & Low Voltage Systems whose skills, attitude, and work ethic support CTI’s mission of delivering a fantastic customer experience. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on high-quality Revit production—turning technology scope and markups into clear, consultant-grade drawings and models that architectural, MEP, and structural partners can rely on. You’ll work closely with the PM/DE to align priorities, incorporate direction quickly, and keep models, exports, and issued drawing packages accurate and consistent across project phases.

This is not an entry-level role. We’re seeking someone with at least 3 years of hands-on experience producing high-quality Revit documentation in a consulting or design environment.

What success looks like

•    You consistently produce consultant-grade Revit drawings and sheet sets (plans, sections, details, schedules) that are clear, coordinated, and ready to issue with minimal rework.
•    You maintain disciplined model and documentation hygiene: templates, view/sheet organization, annotation, naming conventions, and family usage aligned to CTI standards.
•    You work effectively in linked, multidisciplinary models—identifying clashes or discrepancies early and escalating them to the PM/DE with clear notes and screenshots when helpful.
•    You manage ACC/BIM Collaborate Pro publishing and version control, so issued PDFs/DWGs and shared models match the current design intent and project phase.
•    You communicate clearly, meet agreed deadlines, and proactively ask the right questions when information is missing or scope conflicts arise.

What you’ll do

•    Develop and maintain Revit models and drawing sets across SD, DD, and CD, translating technology requirements into coordinated device layouts and infrastructure documentation, including required architectural and electrical support elements.
•    Produce infrastructure drawings to support coordination with architectural and engineering design teams, including pathways, mounting, and backboxes.
•    Convert CAD base plans into usable Revit files to support modeling and drawing production.
•    Coordinate scope within linked or detached architectural, structural, and MEP models, supporting clash and spatial coordination, participating in coordination meetings, and escalating conflicts or discrepancies to the PM/DE for resolution.
•    Partner with the PM/DE to set schedules, priorities, and time expectations for assigned tasks and deliverables.
•    Incorporate PM/DE markups and direction into consultant models and drawing sets (TA, TN, TY), ensuring documentation reflects design intent.
•    Maintain day-to-day Revit project setup, templates, standards, and families in alignment with CTI standards.
•    Execute model sharing, publishing, and version control across ACC/BIM Collaborate Pro and related documentation workflows, ensuring alignment between live and linked models, exports, and issued drawing packages across all project phases.
•    Perform QA/QC to confirm accuracy, consistency, and completeness prior to issuance, including self-review using CTI standards/checklists and peer review of other team members’ work when required.
•    Provide guidance to other Revit team members on CTI standards and Revit best practices.

Does experience count?

Absolutely, but we look at the whole picture:

•    3+ years of experience using Revit to produce consultant-grade construction documentation in a consulting or design environment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
•    Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, working knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and BIM Collaborate Pro, and familiarity with CAD-to-Revit workflows.
•    Experience coordinating work within multidisciplinary models and project teams.
•    Strong documentation skills with the ability to produce clear, organized plans, sections, details, and schedules
•    Understanding of architectural and construction documentation processes and standard consultant drawing conventions.
•    Strong attention to detail, quality, accuracy, and consistency
•    Ability to work independently with minimal direction while asking the right questions
•    Clear written and verbal communication skills

Bonus points for

•    AV, low voltage, or technology consulting experience
•    Structured cabling and pathway knowledge
•    Navisworks or ACC Model Coordination experience
•    Dynamo scripting or Revit add-ins
•    Relevant certifications (Autodesk, CTS, etc.)

What’s in it for you?

At CTI, we know our company’s success is directly correlated to the success of our employees. So it’s fitting that we thrive on and encourage employee growth, both professionally and personally.

Our competitive compensation package includes:

•    Salary of $75,000–$110,000/yr (DOE).
• Employer-matched medical and dental insurance (available after 60 days of employment).
•    Employer matched 401K up to 3% (after 6 months of employment).
•    Monthly bonus eligibility that is based off a results-oriented incentive plan (after 3 months of employment).
•    A graduated PTO program, all major holidays off, and three “floating” holidays available upon your first day of employment.
•    Special gifts for significant life events, such as marriage, childbirth, and house buying.
•    Cell phone reimbursement plan.
•    Long and Short Term Disability 100% paid by CTI.

CTI is an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status. Employment eligibility verification is required upon hire.
