Role and Team

  • Reporting to the Transportation Manager, Lot Manager or designated manager, operate motor vehicles on and off auction premises in support of auction activities. Transports and directs Drivers to move, stage and park vehicles in the correct lot area. Perform all other duties assigned by designated manager. Must know, practice and ensure that company policies and procedures and state or federal laws are followed at all times.

Responsibilities

Provide excellent customer service:

  • Ensure prompt, efficient and courteous service for all contacts and transactions.
  • Demonstrate friendliness and proper etiquette with every customer.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and work area consistent with the Handbook.
  • Handle all aspects of customer complaints or disputes by resolving in a friendly, courteous manner. Advise the designated manager of all complaints or incidences.

Operate motor vehicles in a safe and efficient manner:

    • Always operate motor vehicles safely and practice conservative, cautious and courteous driving habits.
    • Immediately report to the designated manager all mechanical problems experienced whether on or off the job.
    • mmediately report to the supervisor or designated manager anything that occurs which may potentially jeopardize the ability to physically or legally operate a motor vehicle.
    • All driving related incidents to include traffic citations, warnings and accidents.
  • Maintain and assure good operating condition of all equipment and facilities.
  • Maintain work area and conditions to ensure safe environment for all employees and customers. Respond to and follow proper company policy procedures involving accidents (customer or employee), injuries, and loss or damage to any property. Report all incidents to designated manager or supervisor immediately.

Other responsibilities:

  • Maintain and assure good operating condition of all equipment and facilities. Advise designated manager of all breakdowns and maintenance needs immediately.
  • Practice and promote teamwork at all times. Set a good example of attitude and performance
  • Practice and promote company Core Values.

Transportation Lead Van Driver – Specific Responsibilities and Skills

  • Transport Auction Drivers on and off auction premises for transport, pickup and delivery in support of auction activities.
  • Assign Auction Drivers to a lot area on or off property to move, stage and park vehicles.
  • Instruct Auction Drivers on positioning of vehicles as assigned by the designated manager.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Must be qualified to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Previous auto auction experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions is required.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to read English and/or comprehend motor vehicle traffic signs required.
  • Must be insured and/or insurable if required by the state.
  • Must have the ability to physically operate vehicle equipment and tools.
  • Must submit to and pass controlled substance investigation and testing in accordance with company policy. Must not be under the influence of any condition or substance that could distract or impair the ability to safely and efficiently operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must not have a motor vehicle record or criminal record that does not meet the minimum standards set by company policy.
