JOB TITLE: TASN Autism and Tertiary Behavior Supports, State Trainer
DEPARTMENT: TASN Autism and Tertiary Behavior Supports (ATBS)
LOCATION: Keystone Learning Services
REPORTS TO: ATBS Project Director
PURPOSE:
This job is with the Kansas Technical Assistance System Network's Autism and Tertiary Supports Project (TASN ATBS). TASN ATBS is a project funded by the Kansas State Department of Education's Special Education and Title Services Team. The project aims to develop district capacity to improve outcomes for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Complex Learners. The delivery of training and follow-up coaching in the evidence-based practices identified by the National Professional Development Center on ASD. TASN responds to requests for support for individual students from educational agencies that serve students with ASD.
Essential Functions:
  • Develop and deliver training to district personnel on evidence-based practices for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Complex Learners
  • Provide onsite consultation to education teams serving students with ASD and Complex Needs, this includes working directly with students when onsite
  • Coach, train and provide technical assistance using the Behavior Skills Training Model
  • Provide individual student consultation and support to school districts
  • Participate in the development of training materials and resources
  • Collaborate with various disciplines while working with TASN ATBS team members and other Stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate records of training and consultation activities

Marginal Functions:
  • Participate in development and support of educational projects identified by KSDE at request of Special Education and Title Services Team or Project Leadership
  • Pursue professional development that supports the goals of the Project and the essential functions of the position
  • Carry out other duties as assigned

  • ATBS Project Leadership and Staff
  • School District and Building Administrators and Staff
  • TASN Staff
  • Renowned Consultants, Authors, Researchers, Etc.
  • Kansas State Department of Education, Special Educational and Title Services Team

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Complex Learners.
  • Knowledge of and experience delivering evidence-based practices for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Complex Learners.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Licensed and Insured to operate a motor vehicle
  • Ability to travel throughout Kansas.

Requirements of the Position:
  • Regular travel (approximately 40%) across the state of Kansas, including frequent support to districts and partner agencies in Western Kansas.
  • Approximately 15% overnight travel
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Office 365, Google Suite, Adobe, etc.)
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information in verbal and written form
  • Ability to work remotely with team members
  • Ability to provide support to education agencies both onsite and remotely
  • Ability to lift and transfer up to 40 pounds

Terms of Employment:
12-month contract to be completed between July 1st and June 30th. Salary will be based upon qualifications and experience.
Evaluation:
Job performance will be reviewed by the ATBS Project Director with input from Keystone Learning Services Executive Director.
