What is an at home tester?

At Home Testers are individuals who receive products or services to test and review from the comfort of their own homes. Companies use at home testers to gather real-world feedback before launching new items or to improve existing ones. Testers are typically asked to use the product as intended and provide honest opinions about their experience. In many cases, participation is voluntary, and testers may get to keep the products they review. This role is popular among people looking for flexible, part-time opportunities or who enjoy trying out new products.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an at home tester, and why are they important?

To thrive as an At Home Tester, you need attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions precisely, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with digital survey platforms, product testing apps, and basic computer skills are typically required. Strong written communication, reliability, and time management help testers provide accurate and timely feedback. These skills ensure that companies receive useful, trustworthy insights to improve their products and services.

What are some common challenges faced by at home testers, and how can they be managed effectively?

At Home Testers often encounter challenges such as maintaining focus in a home environment, adhering to strict testing protocols without in-person supervision, and managing deadlines across multiple projects. To address these, it's important to create a dedicated workspace, maintain clear communication with project managers, and use organizational tools to track tasks and timelines. Additionally, regularly reviewing testing guidelines and providing thorough feedback helps ensure accuracy and reliability in test results.

Job description

Healthcare is in crisis and the people behind the results deserve better. With more and more data coming from wearables, lab tests, and patient-doctor interactions, we're entering an era where data is abundant.
Junction is building the infrastructure layer for diagnostic healthcare, making patient data accessible, actionable, and automated across labs and devices. Our mission is simple but ambitious: use health data to unlock unprecedented insight into human health and disease.
If you're passionate about how technology can supercharge healthcare, you'll fit right in.
Backed by Creandum, Point Nine, 20VC, YC, and leading angels, we're working to solve one of the biggest challenges of our time: making healthcare personalized, proactive, and affordable. We're already connecting millions and scaling fast.
Short on time? TL;DR
You: An operations-minded problem solver who enjoys owning complex workflows, running customer launches, coordinating across customers and partners, tracking performance, and making sure at-home testing programs run smoothly.
Us: The team responsible for making every test kit experience reliable - from customer launch through fulfillment, laboratory processing, and ongoing operations.
Salary: $80,000 - $95,000
Location: NYC metro (remote)
Why we need you
Our Test Kit Operations team ensures that Junction's at-home testing programs launch successfully and operate reliably at scale. Over the past year, test kit volume on our platform has grown 6x, and every program requires coordination across customers, laboratories, fulfillment partners, and internal teams to ensure test kits are delivered, samples are processed, and customers have a seamless testing experience.
As Junction grows, we're launching more testing programs, supporting more customers, and expanding our network of operational partners. We're looking for a Test Kit Operations Associate who can take ownership of the operational execution behind these programs.
Once a sale closes, you'll own the launch execution and implementation for every new customer. You're essential in setting our test kit customers up for long-term success.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning complex workflows, bringing structure to moving pieces, and solving operational problems in a fast-growing healthcare environment.
What you'll be doing
  • Own the operational execution of new customer test kit launches, ensuring milestones are tracked, dependencies are managed, and programs are ready for successful go-live
  • Coordinate directly with customers to manage launch activities, follow up on open items, and ensure operational requirements are completed on time
  • Partner with laboratory providers, fulfillment partners, and internal teams to coordinate workflows and keep launches moving
  • Own post-launch monitoring of test kit programs, tracking operational performance and identifying opportunities or issues early
  • Monitor key metrics across inventory availability, fulfillment accuracy, shipping timelines, sample processing, turnaround times, and customer experience
  • Investigate operational issues, identify root causes, and work with laboratory and 3PL partners to drive resolution
  • Maintain operational dashboards, trackers, and reporting to provide visibility into program health and performance
  • Identify recurring issues and help implement process improvements
  • Build strong working relationships with customers, laboratory partners, and fulfillment providers
  • Document workflows, processes, and best practices

What we're looking for
  • Operations experience: 3+ years in operations, healthcare operations, logistics, supply chain, customer operations, implementation, or similar
  • Ownership mindset: drives things to the finish line without needing constant direction
  • Launch and project execution: coordinating launches, implementations, or operational programs
  • Problem solving: digs into root causes and coordinates the right people to resolve
  • Cross-functional communication: comfortable with customers, labs, fulfillment, and internal teams
  • Data-driven mindset: comfortable with spreadsheets, dashboards, and metrics
  • Process improvement: has improved workflows, documentation, or systems before
  • Healthcare interest: healthcare/diagnostics/lab ops/at-home testing experience a plus

Nice to have
  • Experience with labs, diagnostics, or healthcare operations
  • Experience supporting at-home testing or medical device programs
  • Experience with 3PL providers
  • Experience managing customer implementations or launches
  • Familiarity with Looker, Tableau, or similar

What success looks like
  • Launches happen smoothly because you own the details, milestones, and follow-through
  • Post-launch programs stay healthy because you monitor, flag risk, and drive resolution
  • Customers, labs, and fulfillment partners trust you as a reliable operational owner
  • Metrics are visible and actionable
  • Recurring issues decrease because you build better process
  • Junction can support more programs because of the foundation you help create
  • Your salary is dependent on your location and experience level
  • Equity (extended exercise post 2 years of employment)
  • Company and team offsites
  • Monthly learning budget of $150 for personal development and productivity
  • $100 monthly wellness budget
  • Flexible, remote-first working - including $1K for home office equipment
  • Coworking budget
  • 36 days paid time off (including bank holidays)
  • Premium healthcare coverage
  • 4% monthly contribution to pension/401k
  • Yearly blood test on us
  • Enhanced parental, foster, and adoption leave
