Job description

Traveling Fiber Technician / Fiber Splicer US

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Fiber Technician to join our US Installation team. In this role, you will support fiber splicing, OTDR testing, OPGW work, documentation, and installation of SCADA and network equipment across renewable energy projects. This position directly contributes to secure, stable communication infrastructure for operational wind assets and SCADA environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fiber splicing, patching, terminations, and related testing

  • Fiber design interpretation and MS Visio layout preparation

  • OTDR testing and troubleshooting of fiber faults

  • Installation and support of SCADA hardware including switches, servers, firewalls, and cabinets

  • OPGW support where applicable

  • Preparation and updating of documentation, including as-built reports

Travel Expectations

This position is a full time travel position. While the Midwest is preferred, flexibility to travel nationwide is essential. Proximity to a major airport is advantageous.

Your Background

We imagine the ideal candidate for this position has +2 years of splicing experience and is able to perform the installation, splicing, OTDR testing, troubleshooting of fiber optic cabling systems. OPGW experience is considered a plus but not required. It is expected that you have a High School degree, communicate fluently in English, and are used to working within tight deadlines. If you have a Technical Certificate or an OSHA 10 Certification it is considered an extra plus.

This position requires the ability to spend significant time working while standing, kneeling, and walking on uneven ground, as well as possibly climbing ladders or being in high places greater than 15 feet, working in tight spaces, and lifting 50+ lbs., and candidates cannot be colorblind. Candidates should only apply if they are capable of working in these conditions.
