Facilities Services Division provides quality customer service by maintaining a safe, healthy, and aesthetically pleasing environment in which students, faculty, and staff can function and accomplish their educational objectives and by supporting a patient care culture that continuously improves. Facilities Services' responsibilities include Interior and Exterior Facilities Support, Construction, Space Management, and Environmental Services.
Job Summary
Supervises an area of responsibility for the EVS department; ensures a consistently high level of cleanliness, environmental hygiene and aesthetics of campus facilities are maintained in support of clinical, research and educational initiatives on Augusta University Campuses. This position also is responsible for daily oversight of regulatory standards, assigned onsite department operations and collaboration with other management and supervisory team members to support the department in its daily functions. Demonstrates working knowledge of the cleaning and disinfection principles and requirements, proper chemical, equipment usage, and maintenance of furniture, furnishings, interior finishes etc. for all areas of responsibility.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Supervises the necessary resources needed for the Environmental Services department under their control and makes recommendations to hiring, promoting and annual staff performance reviews.
Administer employee disciplinary actions as required and provide coaching as appropriate to subordinate EVS staff.
Prepares work and time schedules, under the direction of the Manager, coordinating vacation and holiday time and reviewing daily adjustments in the work schedule. Performs duties as time approver for subordinate staff.
Provides inventory, usage data, and ordering of consumable supplies and equipment repairs for assigned areas.
Adheres to all organizational safety, risk management, and infection control and prevention standards. Follow-up on customer service issues and ensure timely resolution.
Performs quality assurance initiatives under direction of EVS manager. Conducts inspection activities to ensure cleanliness and environmental hygiene in all areas assigned. Prepares necessary reporting to manager(s) and document results via existing data platforms.
Schedule cleaning tasks, plan work schedules and job duties in campus buildings to maintain a high level of cleanliness consistent with APPA standards and provide support and oversight for event setups in their assigned facilities.
Assist in event set up and breakdown and performs other EVS department related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization AND 3 years of supervisory or management experience
WITH
At least 1 year experience as an EVS technician/housekeeper
Other Required Qualifications
A valid driver's license required.

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field e.g. management, business, occupational safety and health etc., or 5 years experience as a supervisor or manager in a housekeeping setting.

ABILITIES
Additionally, this position will interact with varying levels of Augusta University Faculty, Staff and Students, and is responsible for promoting a customer friendly professional environment and providing superior service as part of their duties. Employees in this role shall be skilled in supporting and motivating staff at the hourly level and demonstrate organization and planning skills as well as have the ability to interpret and follow technical instructions. Position shall demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills, and knowledge of institutional cleaning to include maintenance of various flooring systems throughout the University. Must be able to work with limited supervision. Collaborates with the EVS managers and director to establish dashboard metrics to track operations, improvement initiatives and other duties as assigned.
Position requires effective oral and written communication skills, manual dexterity, ability to hear and smell, color discrimination and ability to recall from memory.
KNOWLEDGE
Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
Skilled in supporting and motivating staff at the hourly level and possess organization and planning skills.
Must have the ability to interpret and follow technical instructions.
Must have knowledge of commercial cleaning processes and associated equipment and the ability to assess the EVS operation in their assigned areas.
SKILLS
Approve absence requests.
Administer employee disciplinary actions.
Provide coaching as appropriate to EVS techs and leads.
