Position Description:
Assists with technical support and information to Supervision and Management in the areas of environmental, boiler water chemistry, bulk chemical handling and logistics, gypsum processing, and auxiliary steam plant operations. The Lab Technician C is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of the analytical instrumentation, analyzing technical data, generating reports, maintaining laboratory supply inventory, and providing additional technical support as needed
Essential Job Tasks:
- Assists with operating and maintaining wastewater treatment equipment.
- Documents operating data and water discharge quality as prescribed in SCDHEC discharge permits.
- Notifies supervision of any adverse trends or violations and assists with performing corrective measures when needed.
- Collects and analyzes samples from fresh water, demineralized water, boiler water, wastewater, cooling tower water, and FGD systems.
- Collects samples for internal and external analysis from bearing cooling water, turbine generator dissolved oxygen system, EHC system, turbine oil, waste oil, and fly ash.
- Documents results and informs supervision of deviations from expected values.
- Assists with operating and maintaining chemical feed systems for cooling tower equipment.
- Documents operating and performance data for cooling tower and condensers.
- Notifies supervision of any adverse trends.
- Assists with operating and maintaining boiler feed water system and analysis panels.
- Maintains proper reagent levels and instrument calibration.
- Prepares daily, monthly, and other periodic reports for water quality, gypsum quality, performance data, etc.
- Inspects all plant site safety showers as per BMP policy.
- Operates and assist with maintaining confined space monitoring equipment per OSHA guidelines.
- Maintains calibration logbook and stores in station files.

Position Requirements:
Lab Tech A

- High School Diploma/GED + 5 years experience, Associate's Degree in Science or related field + 3 years experience or Bachelor's Degree + 1 years experience required.
- Must complete confined Space and Anhydrous Ammonia Safety Training.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Must possess a "B" level Biological Wastewater License and a "D" level Water Distribution License.
Compensation Information:
$33.35 - $41.65 (min. - mid.)
Lab Tech B

- High School Diploma/GED + 2 years experience or Associate's Degree in Science or related field + 1 year.
- Must complete Confined Space and Anhydrous Ammonia Safety Training.
- Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Must possess a "D" level Biological Wastewater and "D" Level Water Distribution License.
Compensation Information:
$27.00 - $33.75 (min. - mid.)
Lab Tech C

- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Must complete Confined Space and Anhydrous Ammonia Safety Training.
- Must possess a "Trainee" designation for Biological Wastewater License within 6 months of employment and pass "D" level Biological Wastewater Test within 12 months.
