We are seeking a Senior Manager – Data Science to partner with the Search team and drive data-informed decision-making at scale. This role sits at the intersection of product, data science, and business strategy, and is responsible for translating complex data into actionable insights. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical expertise with business acumen, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is highly effective at influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
About the team:
The Site Discovery Decision Sciences team advances Walmart’s strategy by transforming complex data into actionable insights through rigorous scientific methods. The team builds trusted enterprise assets and collaborates across functions to support business priorities with clear communication and data storytelling. Associates apply advanced analytics, machine learning, and visualization tools to ensure data quality and relevance. They conduct exploratory and root cause analyses to solve challenges and guide strategic decisions that drive growth and deliver value to customers and stakeholders, fostering continuous improvement aligned with Walmart’s mission.
What you'll do:
Provide strategic input into the Search product roadmap by identifying opportunities through data analysis, experimentation, and customer insights Design, execute, and analyze A/B tests to evaluate product features and initiatives Build customer, query, seller insights to drive discoverability on the site Translate data into clear narratives that inform business and product decisions Advise on the right KPIs for new initiatives and features Establish frameworks to track performance and success metrics Own and deliver executive-level reporting on search performance, experiments, and key initiatives Synthesize complex analyses into concise, actionable insights for senior leadership Drive data storytelling to influence strategic decisions
What you'll bring:
  • Extensive experience in data science, machine learning, and advanced statistical methods to develop and validate complex models.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and relevant libraries such as Scikit-Learn for coding, testing, and deploying scalable data solutions.
  • Strong expertise in data visualization tools including Tableau and Python libraries to communicate insights effectively to stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of business metrics and ability to translate analytical findings into actionable business recommendations.
  • Proven leadership skills to mentor associates and guide teams in experimentation, feature engineering, and model optimization.
  • Knowledge of data quality standards, data governance, and best practices for data sourcing and management.
