Job description

Position Overview:

Note: Adjunct positions at UCO are part-time teaching positions. This posting is to create a pool of interested applicants from which the Department may draw as sections become open at any point in the current academic year. This posting may or may not result in the hiring of adjuncts. Adjunct faculty members provide a quality learning experience for students and support the educational philosophy, mission, and long-term goals of the University of Central Oklahoma, the College of Liberal Arts, and the hiring department. Adjunct faculty members teach classes, advise and mentor students, evaluate student performance, and maintain student records in accordance with university policies. Adjunct faculty members work in a collaborative manner with full- and part-time colleagues and adhere to all of the policies and procedures outlined in the UCO Faculty and Employee Handbooks. 

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

Political Science Adjuncts teach core curriculum classes in Political Science, including American Federal Government and Introduction to World Politics, and/or courses in the areas of Law and Public Administration, depending on departmental needs.

Qualifications/Experience Required:

Possesses at least a master's degree in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. 

Qualifications/Experience Preferred:

Doctorate and experience in teaching college-level political science, law, and/or public administration is preferred. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of subject matter, working with core curriculum, teaching lower-level undergraduate classes.
