Job description

Senior Data Scientist - AI & Machine Learning ($175k - $225k) GEOSPACE LLC | Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid) | Full-Time About Us

GEOSPACE is a Minneapolis-based startup with new perspectives on acquiring, transforming, and applying 3D data for the real estate industry. We're building technology that understands the geometric structure of the built environment - turning raw point clouds into structured, intelligent models.

Our team is small, tight-knit, and intentionally cross-disciplinary. We share ideas openly, collaborate across every discipline, and support one another through problems that none of us have solved before. This is a safe environment for learning, for asking questions, for challenging ideas, and for growing together. If you're looking for a place where your voice matters from day one and your contributions shape the direction of the company, you'll feel at home here.

The Role

We're looking for a senior data scientist to join our team as a core technical contributor and creative force. This is a role for someone who wants to work on the hardest, most interesting problems in our stack- structural reasoning over 3D data, graph neural networks, computer vision and the AI systems that bring spatial understanding to life.

You'll work alongside our existing data science team and complement, bringing your own lens on how to approach problems that don't have textbook solutions. You'll have direct influence on the direction of our core AI products, and the autonomy to pursue ideas that push them forward.

What You'll Do
  • Architect and refine AI/ML pipelines that transform unstructured point cloud data into meaningful, structured representations
  • Design and develop ML models including graph neural networks for structural and spatial reasoning over 3D data
  • Explore and implement agentic AI capabilities that enhance automation, decision-making, and system intelligence across our platform
  • Collaborate on computer vision approaches for feature extraction, classification, and validation of architectural elements
  • Lead experimentation - define hypotheses, design rigorous tests, and drive measurable outcomes
  • Contribute creative ideas and novel approaches to problems at the frontier of 3D understanding and spatial AI
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience in data science or applied machine learning
  • Proficiency in Python with deep experience in ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or equivalent)
  • Experience with experiment tracking, model evaluation, and reproducible research practices
  • Comfort working with 3D data, point clouds, or computational geometry (or a genuine eagerness to dive in)
  • Computer vision experience is a strong plus
  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field preferred
Who You Are
  • Self-starting and proactive
  • you don't wait to be told what to work on. You identify what matters and move.
  • Enthusiastic and energetic
  • you bring momentum to the team, not just output.
  • Creative
  • you see problems differently and aren't afraid to propose unconventional approaches.
  • An owner
  • you manage your own work, communicate your progress, and hold yourself accountable.
  • Collaborative
  • you make the people around you better by sharing ideas, asking good questions, and engaging openly.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary with equity participation
  • Ground-floor opportunity at a funded startup solving real, complex problems
  • A talented, tight-knit technical team that values craft and creativity
  • Hybrid work environment in Minneapolis
  • Direct influence on product direction and technical strategy
  • The chance to work on genuinely novel challenges in 3D AI and spatial intelligence
Our Values
  • We are a team above all else: This is a respectful, safe place for opinions
  • Team of equals: No hierarchy of egos, just collaborative problem-solving
  • Clear vision: We know where we're going and how to get there
  • Move fast: We're well-funded and empowered to execute
  • Quality matters: We build things right, not just fast
