Job Summary: Odyssey Charter School is seeking a dynamic, dedicated, and culturally responsive individual for the role of Computer and Science Technology Paraprofessional.

Unlike a traditional instructional paraprofessional role, the Computer Science & Technology Learning Guide serves as an instructional partner and project facilitator who helps students engage in authentic, hands-on learning experiences within Odyssey's Career & Technical Education (CTE) pathway.

Working alongside an experienced Lead Teacher, the Learning Guide plays an active role in bringing the Computer Science & Technology program to life by facilitating project-based learning, coaching students through challenges, supporting lesson implementation, and helping cultivate an engaging, innovation-focused learning environment. While the Lead Teacher maintains responsibility for instructional leadership, curriculum alignment, assessment, and overall program oversight, the Learning Guide serves as a daily learning facilitator who helps students explore technology, solve problems, collaborate with peers, and develop future-ready skills.

This position is ideal for someone who is energized by technology, creativity, design thinking, and innovation. Extensive technical expertise is not required; curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn are essential. The Learning Guide receives ongoing coaching and support from the Lead Teacher, instructional coaches, and Computer Science professionals who provide curricular guidance, project resources, and instructional planning.

Key Responsibilities

The Computer Science & Technology Learning Guide will:

  • Facilitate engaging, project-based learning experiences that promote creativity, inquiry, collaboration, and problem-solving.
  • Coach students as they design, build, test, revise, and present authentic technology projects.
  • Foster a classroom culture that encourages experimentation, perseverance, innovation, and student ownership.
  • Prepare instructional materials, technology resources, and project components that support daily learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to develop lessons, projects, exhibitions, and interdisciplinary learning experiences.
  • Contribute ideas to curriculum development, pathway design, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support students in developing technical, professional, and transferable workplace skills.
  • Build positive relationships that encourage student confidence, engagement, and independence.
  • Help facilitate partnerships with community members, industry professionals, and local organizations when appropriate.
  • Assist with student showcases, exhibitions, competitions, and other authentic demonstrations of learning.
  • Model professionalism, collaboration, lifelong learning, and adaptability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must hold valid, active Delaware Para Certificates in required areas in accordance with 14 Del. C. 1531.
  • Successful completion of Praxis II exams.
  • Proficient in English Language, both written and spoken.
  • Experience teaching in relevant Grades in an immersion or foreign language program preferred
  • Relevant teaching experience preferred
  • Experience teaching students with diverse needs
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • A global citizenship and collaborative mindset
  • Experience working in a multicultural/multilingual environment
