A global nonprofit that provides trusted biological materials for science and health, ATCC is hiring an Associate Biologist to support hands-on laboratory quality testing for cell biology products in the Quality Control group. This onsite position in Manassas, VA performs quality control testing in a regulated laboratory environment, ensuring biological materials meet established quality standards and release requirements. The role follows standard operating procedures, controlled documents, and laboratory documentation practices while supporting sustained testing demand for core business operations.

Responsibilities
  • Quality Control Testing: Perform laboratory quality testing of cell biology products by following approved SOPs, test methods, and controlled documents to support product release activities.
  • Laboratory Documentation: Record, review, and maintain accurate laboratory data and test documentation in accordance with established quality and compliance requirements.
  • Regulated Environment Compliance: Adhere to laboratory procedures, quality standards, and controlled processes while maintaining compliance in a regulated laboratory environment.
  • Data Review & Reporting: Review test results, analyze data, and support reporting activities to ensure accuracy, traceability, and completion of quality records.
  • Scientific Execution: Apply scientific reasoning, laboratory techniques, and manual dexterity to perform routine testing and support investigation of laboratory observations.
  • Team & Laboratory Support: Collaborate with colleagues to maintain laboratory readiness, support testing schedules, and contribute to efficient quality control operations.

Qualifications
  • Minimum Requirement: Bachelor's or equivalent experience (HS Diploma and 4 years).
  • Ability to perform routine laboratory testing with guidance while following established procedures, documenting results, and maintaining compliance with quality requirements.
  • Experience with laboratory documentation practices and accurate recordkeeping.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures, test methods, and other controlled documents.
  • Experience reviewing and reporting laboratory data with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a regulated laboratory environment and maintain quality standards.
  • Strong scientific reasoning, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is $60,000 to $65,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional incentive compensation including regular merit increases and the corporate bonus program.
