Position Overview
Nelson American Indian College, located in Phoenix, Arizona is currently accepting applications for an Adjunct Professor Position in Biology/Physical Science.
Nelson AIC is affiliated and in partnership with Nelson University in Waxahachie, Texas. We are an Assemblies of God institution and all applicants must be willing to subscribe to a statement of faith for final consideration in addition to professional and academic requirements.
Faculty intentionally provide a curriculum characterized by currency, harmony with Assemblies of God doctrine, and supported by biblical integration across all disciplines.
Responsibilities
โ€ข Adjunct faculty teach courses as assigned by the Dean. Courses may be scheduled during day or night hours, or Saturdays
โ€ข Instructors will prepare syllabi in accordance with the institutional model, initiate the process of textbook selection in a timely fashion, oversee quality educational experiences for students, produce evaluations and scores of student performance via the learning management system, and submit final grades per the posted schedule
โ€ข Adjunct faculty are required to provide 30 minutes of availability per week per course for student consultations (on a select day or attached to a class)
โ€ข Adjunct faculty members will be issued a copy of the University's Institutional Policy Manual and expected to familiarize themselves with the policies of the University
โ€ข Adjunct faculty are required to wear professional attire during class and begin and end each class on time
โ€ข Adjunct faculty are required to carry out instructional and spiritual formation activities with students and staff in accord with University policies and practices
โ€ข All part time faculty are invited (but not required) to attend department meetings
Adjunct faculty are not required but encouraged to attend the Faculty In-Service meetings. Likewise, adjunct faculty are not required but encouraged to participate in commencement ceremonies
Adjunct faculty are required to connect and communicate with Department Chairs on a regular basis
Qualifications
โ€ข Academic qualifications commensurate with accreditation criteria
โ€ข Established teaching abilities, strong written and verbal communication skills, and knowledge of subject area
โ€ข Ability to work harmoniously with faculty, staff, administration, and students
โ€ข Adaptability to change and innovation
โ€ข Faculty members report to and are accountable to the Department Chair, College Dean, any local Administrative Dean when serving at an Extension Site, and the Vice President for Academics.
โ€ข Master's degree from a regionally accredited university in biology/physical science or biology/physical science-related field or a Master's degree with a minimum of 18 hours in biology/physical science..
โ€ข Ability to effectively communicate across diverse populations in verbal and written expression
Faith Commitment
Personal faith consistent with Nelson University's evangelical Christian mission
Active participation in a local church community; Assemblies of God affiliation preferred
Compensation
Compensation is determined according to established pay scales and is based on credentials and teaching assignments.
