The Associate Revenue Accountant at Instructure, Inc. plays a key role in supporting the revenue accounting team to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting related to revenue recognition in compliance with ASC 606 and company policies. This position is ideal for detail-oriented candidates with strong analytical skills who thrive in a fast-paced environment.
What You Will Be Doing:
  • Assist with month-end and quarter-end close processes for revenue and deferred revenue accounts.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for revenue-related transactions.
  • Analyze revenue contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Collaborate with sales, legal, and operations teams to understand contract terms impacting revenue.
  • Support preparation of schedules and analyses for internal and external auditors.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of revenue accounting processes and controls.
  • Participate in special projects as needed to support the accounting department.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all revenue-related activities.

What You Will Need to Know/Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on revenue recognition preferred.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, particularly ASC 606.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
