Job description

Description:

APPLICANTS: Please add a link to your Design Portfolio within your resume. This is required! Also, this is not a UX/UI visual design position. While iF does engage in UX work, this role will primarily be as a Graphic Designer for the deliverable types listed. Company Overview

Intentional Futures (iF) is an idea-to-impact consultancy that helps leaders turn good intentions into positive outcomes. Our clients are change agents who believe the world can be better than it is. We act as trusted guides and thought partners on their journeys.

We are a firm of researchers, strategists, and designers who work on complex issues with corporations, nonprofits, and family foundations. We are looking for a self-motivated and skilled Associate Graphic Designer to join our team!

Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive work environment. We believe that having staff from many backgrounds allows us to better serve our clients, support one another, and fulfill our mission. As an equal opportunity employer, iF considers all applications without regard to race, color, religion, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, military service eligibility, veteran status, sexual orientation, marital status, physical or mental disability, or any other protected class. People of color, women, and LGBTQIA+ individuals are encouraged to apply. We take leadership and training seriously and will invest in you and your goals.

Even if you don’t meet all the minimum qualifications but still feel you would be a strong fit, we encourage you to apply.

Job Summary

We are looking to hire a full-time Associate Graphic Designer with 1+ years of experience in a client-based design agency, studio, or consultancy to join our in-house team. At iF, designers work within strategist-led project teams to create supporting documents, presentations, framework & diagram illustrations, workshop assets, and storytelling documents. While we are not a UX-centric team, we do occasionally work on front-end envisioning UX (small sites, web apps, interactive dashboards, etc.) so knowledge of creating user flows, screens, and digital experiences is a plus. We’ve also incorporated the use of AI tools to assist in image creation and content generation; applicants should be at minimum familiar with current AI models and techniques for use within design processes.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with strategist-led project teams on the design and production of client-based deliverables, including (but not limited to):
    • Graphic illustrations and image creation for storytelling decks and documents
    • Complex infographics, frameworks and data visualizations (e.g. strategic frameworks, journey maps, technical and/or process diagrams)
    • Pitch and presentation documents, slides, and reports
    • Workshop and group presentation materials (digital whiteboard assets & activities, posters, environmental graphics, etc.)
    • Light brand identity and naming (typically for smaller orgs and budgets)
  • Marketing graphics for iF case studies, blog post, internal company workshops, holiday gift swag, and smaller ad-hoc projects as needed
    • Assets are mostly digital, but we do a small amount of printed deliverables throughout the year, so rudimentary print & production experience is welcomed but not required
  • Work closely with the Marketing Coordinator and other members of the design team to manage and maintain existing visual design assets
  • Help to revamp and templatize internal assets
  • Review pre-press materials and place orders with print shops

Basic Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience as a graphic designer within a studio, agency or in-house design team
  • Strong command of typography and layout
  • Proficiency with Figma (the design tool we use most frequently)
  • Proficiency with Adobe Suite (primarily Photoshop & Illustrator)
  • Proficiency with Google Slides, Google Docs, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Experience with designing within digital whiteboard apps (e.g. Miro)
  • Experience with using current AI tools such as Midjourney to create imagery and Claude for general content tasks and skill creation
  • Animation/motion experience, and/or illustration skills are a plus but not required
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to take direction and navigate ambiguity
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Eagerness to explore and learn new skills

Please Note: this is not a UX visual design position. While iF does engage in UX work, this role will primarily be as a Graphic Designer for the deliverable types listed above.
