Job Overview
Northrop Grumman is seeking an Electronic Technician 2 to support the Integration & Test (I&T) Department at Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA. This role performs hands-on electronic testing, troubleshooting, assembly, modification, and checkout of interceptor and space launch vehicle systems. The technician will work with engineering teams to support development, testing, and integration activities in a high-reliability aerospace environment.
Responsibilities
Perform testing, troubleshooting, checkout, fabrication, modification, and assembly of electronic and electromechanical systems.
Support integration and testing activities for space launch vehicles and related systems.
Assemble and modify prototype models, electronic circuits, and specialized test equipment.
Perform operational testing and fault isolation to verify system performance.
Troubleshoot electronic systems and isolate failures down to component level.
Read and interpret:
Electronic schematics
Wiring diagrams
Engineering drawings
Technical work instructions
Conduct engineering tests and collect test data.
Utilize electronic test equipment including:
Digital Multimeters (DMM)
Oscilloscopes
VOM
Signal Generators
Power Supplies
Perform electronic assembly, inspection, and rework activities.
Support PCB assemblies, harnesses, and electronic components.
Maintain accurate test documentation and records.
Follow ESD protection procedures and aerospace quality standards.
Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work environment.
Required Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship required.
High school diploma/GED plus:
2+ years of electronics, avionics, or related experience, or
Completion of formal electronics training (technical school/military electronics training), or
Associate degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or related field.
Experience with hands-on electronic assembly, testing, troubleshooting, or repair.
Ability to read and interpret:
Schematics
Wiring diagrams
Technical drawings
Work instructions
Experience using electronic test equipment.
Basic soldering and rework skills.
Familiarity with:
PCB assemblies
Electronic components
Wire harnesses
Basic computer skills and ability to document test results.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions.
Ability to use hand tools and small power tools.
Ability to stand, bend, sit, and lift approximately 25–35 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
Aerospace, defense, avionics, or space systems experience.
Experience with Integration & Test (I&T) environments.
Experience troubleshooting electronic systems at component level.
ESD protection experience.
Experience with soldering (through-hole and surface mount).
Experience with production, laboratory, depot, or field service environments.
Ability to work overtime, weekends, or alternate shifts as needed.
