Associate User Experience Researcher information

What does an associate user experience researcher do?

An Associate User Experience (UX) Researcher helps gather and analyze data about how users interact with products or services. They use various research methods, such as interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to understand user needs, behaviors, and pain points. Their work supports the design and development teams in creating user-friendly and effective products. As entry-level professionals, Associate UX Researchers often assist with planning studies, collecting data, and communicating findings to stakeholders.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be an associate user experience researcher?

To thrive as an Associate User Experience Researcher, you need foundational knowledge in research methodologies, user testing, and data analysis, often supported by a degree in psychology, human-computer interaction, or a related field. Familiarity with tools like UserTesting, Optimal Workshop, and data analysis software such as SPSS or Excel is typically expected. Strong communication, curiosity, and collaboration skills help you effectively gather user insights and work with cross-functional teams. These abilities are crucial for translating user feedback into actionable design recommendations that enhance product usability and satisfaction.

How does an associate user experience researcher typically work with designers and product managers during a project?

As an Associate User Experience Researcher, you’ll collaborate closely with designers and product managers throughout the product development lifecycle. Typically, you’ll help gather user insights by planning and conducting usability tests, interviews, or surveys, and then present your findings to the broader team. Your research will inform design decisions and help prioritize features or improvements by providing evidence-based recommendations. Regular communication and the ability to translate user needs into actionable feedback are key aspects of your daily responsibilities.

Job Description

Amazing Career Moments Happen Here

Transforming the insurance industry is ambitious, we know. That's why at Applied, we're building a team that shows up every day ready to learn, willing to try new things, and driven to deliver innovative software and services that make us indispensable to our customers - all within a culture built on values that make us indispensable to each other too. With 40+ years of experience in the insurtech game, we're not just redefining what's achievable; we're creating a place where amazing career moments are made possible.

Position Overview

We're searching for a UX Designer to join our EZLynx Product Team on a remote or hybrid basis in the United States. To keep us headed in the right direction, we're looking for people who understand winning is a team sport, who value and seek to learn from our team's diverse experiences and backgrounds, who welcome a challenge and take risks in the pursuit of creating better outcomes for our customers, and who can, at any given time, step back to laugh and have some fun.

What You'll Do

  • Develop a strong understanding of our users' experience through our suite of products and explore the needs and motivations of our target users.
  • Partner with stakeholders in identifying, constructing, and testing information architecture.
  • Bring product ideas to life with quick, well-reasoned wireframes, mockups, and coded prototypes.
  • Coordinate and conduct primary user research and formal Usability Testing to help us efficiently validate and iterate.
  • Articulate storytelling, the why behind your design decisions.
  • Collaborate with the product and development teams as they implement the design into released product features.
  • Promote product consistency across the platform.
  • Employ usage analytics from our product to generate data to track and measure the success of our solutions.

We're Excited to Learn More About You

Your experience may include:

  • 1-3+ years of experience in UX, preferably in a commercial software environment working on B2B enterprise software or SaaS products.
  • Well-versed in experimental design, research methodology, and statistical analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience with research methodologies such as user observation, user interview, usability testing, card sorts, persona development, user journeys and surveys.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret research data and turn it into actionable insights.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills that promote idea-sharing and knowledge transfer.
  • Proficient in design and prototyping tools (Figma, Balsamiq, Miro, whiteboards, etc.)

You may have other skills or credentials, including:

  • Insurance industry or Insurance technology experience
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and techniques - e.g., AI, Machine Learning, etc.

We know that talent comes from all backgrounds and experience levels. We encourage military members and their spouses as well as candidates without a degree or a background in tech to apply!

When You Join Team Applied, You Can Expect:

A culture that values who you are and recognizes that you aren't just an employee; you are a teammate, and you matter. We thrive on the benefits of our different experiences and celebrate the uniqueness our teammates bring to work with them every day.

We flex our time together, collaborating remotely and in-person to empower our teams to work in the ways that work best for them.

A comprehensive benefits and compensation package that centers our teammates and helps them to bring their best to work every day:

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage
  • Holiday and Vacation Time
  • Health & Wellness Days
  • A Bonus Day for Your Birthday
