As a Senior Engineer, you will provide senior level engineering/technical expertise on complex electric transmission design projects for high-voltage (HV) and extra high-voltage (EHV) overhead utility systems.

Specifically, the position manages, prepares, reviews and/or provides guidance for line routing, survey coordination, PLS-CADD modeling, structure design, foundation design, clearance checks, plan/profile development, material specification and procurement, constructability evaluations, work order package preparation, permitting, vendor/subcontractor coordination and construction support.


  • Develop and approve PLS-CADD Criteria
  • Finalize PLS-CADD models
  • Schedule project tasks for project support team
  • Attend client stakeholder meetings
  • Complete design review meetings with the client
  • Mentor/train other engineering team members
  • Provide input on special design questions
  • Attend internal design review meetings

  • Bachelor's in Engineering (required)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification (required)
  • 8+ years of related transmission line engineering experience in the electric utility industry (required)
  • Experience in using PLS-CADD for designing transmission lines (required)
  • Strong experience with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ASCE, and ACI 
  • Strong experience with liaising substation, environmental, right-of-way construction and maintenance stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability in the application of engineering theories and principles
  • Increasingly proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, preparing, and presenting recommendations
  • Ability to work in a safe manner and always obey safety regulations
  • Ability to be a self-starter and thrive in an unstructured, varied and deadline driven work environment
  • Strong ability to collaborate with team members as well as peers in the electrical utility industry
  • Effective communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
  • Demonstrated verbal and technical writing skills
