Position Description

The Supply Chain Planner monitors production schedules, lead times, and inventory levels to support production planning and inventory management at Applied Medical. This supply chain planning and production planning role creates shop orders based on enterprise resource planning (ERP) requirements, maintains safety stocks and forecasts, and partners with stakeholders across the organization. The Supply Chain Planner identifies opportunities to optimize inventory levels, reduce backorders, and improve customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor inventory and maintain adequate levels of finished goods (FG), semi-finished goods (SFG), and raw materials (RM)
  • Generate shop orders and purchase requisitions in SAP, the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system
  • Develop and maintain the production schedule based on lead times and demand
  • Coordinate with Clinical Development, Customer Relations, and other stakeholders on production planning and inventory issues
  • Identify manufacturing challenges, escalate stock availability concerns promptly, and prepare recovery plans
  • Identify opportunities to optimize inventory levels, reduce backorders, and improve customer service
  • Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis to support planning decisions

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • Maintaining accurate inventory levels across finished goods, semi-finished goods, and raw materials
  • Keeping the production schedule current and aligned with demand and lead times
  • Escalating stock availability risks early and delivering effective recovery plans
  • Building strong communication channels that keep stakeholders informed on inventory updates and project progress
  • Leading planning projects as the key stakeholder and presenting recommendations to senior management
  • Developing contingency plans that address manufacturing challenges proactively
