Engineer 1 – Power Distribution Location: Tuscaloosa, AL (must live within reasonable commute or be willing to relocate) Contract: 2 Years Client: Alabama Power About the Role We are seeking an entry-level Engineer 1 to support the design, planning, and construction of electrical power distribution systems. This role offers hands‐on field experience and customer interaction, making it an ideal opportunity for early‐career engineers looking to grow within the utility and power sector. You will manage a defined service territory in Tuscaloosa, AL, working directly with residential, commercial, and industrial customers to engineer safe, reliable, and cost‐effective electric service solutions. This role also participates in after‐hours storm restoration efforts and supports larger system improvement and infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities Apply engineering principles, design criteria, and software tools to support power system design and construction. Meet with customers to determine electric service needs and create engineering designs accordingly. Engineer electric distribution service projects including residential, commercial, industrial, and subdivisions. Assist with system reliability projects, routine maintenance, and planned infrastructure improvements. Support estimate preparation, design option development, and construction specification packages. Participate in storm restoration events – after‐hours and out‐of‐area support may be required. Manage multiple active projects, prioritize workload, and take ownership of assigned territory responsibilities. Required Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET‐accredited college or university. 0–5 years of engineering‐related experience. Prior experience with electrical distribution engineering is preferred but not required. EIT certification is a plus. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Preferred skills and tools (training available for entry‐level candidates): Computer applications such as CYME, JETS, CSS, DistGIS, SOCKET, ADMS/OMS Understanding of distribution design, standards, and practices Ability to interpret engineering plans, apply problem‐solving skills, and make sound decisions during emergencies Ability to manage multiple projects and set priorities Strong customer‐facing communication skills Knowledge of NESC, NEC, OSHA, and company safety standards Ability to travel out of area/state for restoration or emergency assignments #J-18808-Ljbffr
