Job description

About the Role
Collaborate with senior, lead, or principal engineers to design, develop, and maintain C# and .NET services and SQL Server data models that support H&R Block's Retail, DIY (Online), and Mobile tax preparation workflows, including writing and executing unit tests to validate workflow/business rules, data validations, and API behavior. Responsible for the end-to-end development of software components including making independent decisions on implementation details and architecture, as well as defining design approaches. Perform debugging and lead technical design and code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices, and mentor junior team members on debugging and unit testing strategies. Develop scalable full-stack features using Angular and TypeScript, which implement new customer-facing screens and UI + API integration, improve usability, validation, and secure data handling while maintaining platform stability across releases. Collaborate strategically with cross-functional teams, including tax experts, developers, Business Analysts, Scrum Masters, and Technical Architects, to resolve technical blockers independently and deliver tax projects on time and within budget. Guide the design, development and maintenance of software components with Azure DevOps, serving as the primary point of contact for release management decisions.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems or a related technology field. Employer will accept a Bachelor's equivalent based on a combination of education, training and experience as determined by a professional evaluation service.
Two years of software component analysis, design and programming experience to include:
  • Software development lifecycle (SDLC) using Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and Azure DevOps.
  • Full-stack software development using C#, .NET Framework, SQL Server, and Angular/TypeScript web technologies.
  • Create technical diagrams and architecture documentation with Figma and Miro.
  • Design, implement, and test API and UI automation solutions using Playwright, Selenium WebDriver, RestSharp, and Postman.
  • Create and execute comprehensive Test Cases, Test Data, and Test suites.
  • Develop test scripts for RESTful APIs and microservices.
  • Develop interface and integration software using Azure Functions and Azure Logic Apps cloud components.
  • Utilize relational and NoSQL data platforms (SQL Server and Azure Cosmos DB) for data validation and performance tuning.
  • Automate environment configuration using PowerShell scripting and the Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tool Terraform.
  • Perform incident analysis for large-scale applications using Datadog and Application Insights monitoring platforms, and document issues in Salesforce.
  • Develop in mobile-responsive web environments and perform cloud-based testing for iOS and Android using BrowserStack.
  • Use Lucky Orange, Medallia, and Decibel, for user journey analysis and for optimization issue reproduction.
