About The Role

Join Yardi's Residential Military team as a Software Development Engineer I and help develop technology solutions that make a real impact on military housing communities across the country. In this role, you will contribute to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of software applications that support business and customer needs. This includes implementing approved software changes, troubleshooting and resolving application issues, conducting unit testing, and documenting development activities to ensure high-quality, reliable solutions.

Working closely with cross-functional team members, product partners, and stakeholders, you will help translate requirements into effective technical solutions, communicate project progress, and address development challenges. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills, takes ownership of code quality, and responsibly utilizes AI-assisted development tools while ensuring accuracy, security, and adherence to development standards and best practices.

What You'll Do:
  • Contribute to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software applications that support military housing operations.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects while ensuring application quality, reliability, and performance.
  • Perform unit testing and validation activities to support application accuracy, interoperability, and overall product quality.
  • Implement software enhancements and approved changes that improve functionality and user experience.
  • Develop foundational knowledge of software engineering practices, AI technologies, product features, and industry-specific business processes to deliver effective solutions.
Who You Are:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Foundational programming skills in one or more modern languages or frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, Java, or equivalent)
  • Exposure to relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
  • Working knowledge of software development tools such as source code editors, compilers, debuggers, and version control systems
  • Basic understanding of software development concepts, including APIs, data structures, debugging, testing, and multi-layer application architecture (database, server, and client)
  • Ability to effectively leverage at least one primary programming language to develop and maintain software solutions
  • Basic understanding of AI concepts and the responsible use of AI-assisted development tools
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Time management, task prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
